Lead Product Manager (G3) – Kroger Model Insights

TEAM OVERVIEW:

Kroger Model Insights is part of the Kroger Model Data & Insights (KMDI) team. The vision of the KMDI team is to be a trusted partner in turning data into valuable connected insights that drive smart decisions across the Kroger enterprise. We deliver timely, accurate, and actionable information, while fostering a culture of transparency, innovation, and continuous improvement to help teams reach their goals with confidence.

Kroger Model Insights is accountable for multiple products, including 84.51° Merch Insights Reporting (MIR). MIR is a business intelligence suite that visualizes Key Performance Indicators across leading drivers of business health. MIR is built to help Kroger Merchandisers and their 84.51° counterparts generate insights to make better business decisions. Other accountabilities include merchandising data warehouse and managing a data as a service agreement with Circana.

SUMMARY:

The Lead Product Manager is responsible for guiding the strategy, development, and execution of Kroger model insights products to meet customer needs and business objectives. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including engineering, data science, Agile delivery, and consulting—to define product vision, roadmap, and priorities. This role requires strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills to make data-driven decisions and align stakeholders. The Lead Product Manager also monitors market trends and user feedback to continuously improve the products and drive long-term growth, including innovation through AI.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Stakeholder management – experienced in building and managing stakeholder relationships to influence and drive change (key groups will include 84.51 merchandising client leads, Kroger category managers, 84.51 and Kroger data teams, Circana, 84.51 State of the the Customer, Kroger MX Insights)
  • Experienced level knowledge in the development and use of product data to inform product decisions – both quantitative and qualitative
  • Deep understanding of customers/users problems, how they think and operate and the platforms/technology they use
  • Deep understanding of the business domain, stakeholders, business processes and constraints in which your product(s) play
  • Experienced in making priority decisions based on measurable value, given the usability, feasibility and viability
  • Understand and communicate organization objectives, strategies and solution needs to the team to facilitate results (where collaborative/as colleague)
  • Skilled in leading Discovery Process sessions with key stakeholders
  • Clearly communicate the value of the work being delivered
  • Manage work with a product mindset – focus on outcomes (over outputs), problems to solve, the goals of your product and key metrics of success; give teams the freedom and responsibility to think of a strategy they believe will result in the best product for our clients; facilitate teams in setting up a process that supports them in building these products
  • Kroger Insights - Lead the development, championing and evangelizing of a product vision, strategy and roadmap, based on value, viability and the needs of the business

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Skilled in managing cross-functional software development teams in an agile environment
  • Skilled in managing business priorities against design/user needs while delivering against product roadmaps
  • Skilled in managing end-to-end software product development and releases
  • Stakeholder management skills – experienced in building and managing stakeholder relationships to influence and drive change across 84.51, Kroger, and Kroger Technology & Digital
  • Problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Planning, organizational and time management skills
  • Comfort with ambiguity – remains confident, positive and resourceful in the face of ambiguity and unexpected results; recovers quickly from setbacks
  • Willingness to learn and innovate using AI
  • Exhibits qualities of and have proven to be a great teammate
  • Verbal and written communication skills, ability to translate between business and technical
  • Technical acumen – grasps the technical details to lead a team, product and/or program
  • 6-8 + years relevant experience
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • The stated salary range represents the entire span applicable across all geographic markets from lowest to highest. Actual salary offers will be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to geographic location, relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and alignment with market data and cost of labor. In addition to salary, this position is also eligible for variable compensation.
