Integral to the successful launch of pz-cel within the US, the Regional Account Director ensures internal and external alignment for a seamless patient and customer experience to further Abeona’s business objectives. Duties encompass the development and execution of a tailored customer and treatment site engagement strategy, fostering disease awareness, educating customers about pz-cel, and providing customer/patient support. The role also entails leading and coordinating site onboarding, establishing referral pathways between Qualified Treatment Centers and referral sites, facilitating product access, ensuring excellence in customer and patient experiences throughout the treatment journey, and optimizing the number of eligible patients treated with pz-cel in their region.

Duties encompass the development and execution of a tailored customer and treatment site engagement strategy, fostering disease awareness, educating customers about pz-cel, and providing customer/patient support. The role also entails leading and coordinating site onboarding, establishing referral pathways between Qualified Treatment Centers and referral sites, facilitating product access, ensuring excellence in customer and patient experiences throughout the treatment journey, and optimizing the number of eligible patients treated with pz-cel in their region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulate and implement the site-level business strategy to guarantee the successful launch and commercialization of pz-cel, aligning with our customer and business objectives
- Collaborate closely with Marketing, Market Access, Patient Operations, Manufacturing, Patient Services/Hub, Commercial Strategy & Operations, Medical Operations, Legal, Compliance and other relevant functions as required
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the site including dermatology, surgery, anesthesiology, in-patient nursing and hospitalists, pharmacy, cell therapy, reimbursement, legal and C suite and collaborate with Abeona colleagues to create a streamlined, organized interface
- Proactively engage with HCPs, treatment team, decision makers and key stakeholders to establish trusted relationships, understand needs and opportunities, articulate the value proposition of pz-cel, develop and implement initiatives to advance a positive customer experience, and ensure that appropriate patients can successfully access pz-cel, enhancing Abeona’s reputation within the EB community
- Cultivate and socialize meaningful insights for more impactful engagement both nationally and for referring sites
- Maintain clinical expertise on DEB/RDEB and related treatments
- Champion the customer needs through deep understanding each customer and patient treatment journey and through interface with internal functions to implement solutions
- Establish the development and operationalization of patient identification and referral pathways to drive the appropriate patients to treatment sites in a simple and customer-oriented way
- Proactively identify and established trusted relationships with KOLs to support educational efforts and advocacy for pz-cel, DEB, and Abeona
- Coordinate all Abeona operational activities (e.g. site qualification, site set up, patient treatment), evaluate site specific needs, develop site-specific onboarding plans that coordinate onboarding tasks and specify timelines for completion
- Provide new and ongoing clinical instruction to clinical staff (monitor staff turnover)
- Continue to monitor demand and patterns at activated QTCs and broader EB Centers of Excellence to gain insights and make recommendations on timing and site selection to internal stakeholders in support of expanding the pz-cel treatment network
- Collaborate to identify and establish metrics, KPIs, market data, competitive information and reports to define, evaluate and communicate progress and success
- Contribute to the development of the Market Access, with understanding of all levels of reimbursement across institutions, commercial payers, Medicaid, Medicare and the impact on decision-making and business performance
- Provide support at scientific congresses, including staffing exhibits, reporting on scientific sessions, and facilitating meetings with KOLs
- Bachelor’s Degree Required
- 4+ years prior Account Management experience required
- Significant Autologous Therapy commercialization experience (Cell/Gene) required
- Broader commercial experience beyond Account Management (Management, Marketing, Operations, Market Access)
- Launch experience within complex academic systems
- Must be willing to travel up to 30% of time (all domestic)
- Must live in proximity to a major airport
