Program Summary:

Make a difference in the automotive industry by applying for ADAC Automotive’s internship/co-op program today.

ADAC's paid co-op program coincides with GVSU's rotational program and can start either in January or in the summer.

The program features collaboration among your fellow interns and ADAC professionals. In addition to team-based community outreach and philanthropic initiatives, the internship program concludes with a final joint capstone project and presentation. The project requires you to apply your research, problem solving and innovation skills to understand and identify a solution to a specific and relevant company business opportunity or challenge.

To complete the capstone, you will formally present findings on a provided topic and your recommendations to ADAC’s executive team.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Assist Engineers on an assigned project and/or to meet customer project timelines.
    1. Engineering is responsible for sample requests and follow-up for mold, paint and assembly. Samples may need layout, test follow-up and final prep work to meet customer delivery dates.
    2. The above functions are all based on program timing, and it is critical to meet each stage of the development
  2. Perform competitive analysis on benchmarking to be Best-in-Class.
    1. Engineering is responsible for evaluating ADAC core product via benchmarking competitive products/processes.
    2. Benchmarking evaluates features, such as, design, content, robustness, quality, etc. Data is analyzed and incorporated into ADAC product.
  3. Build prototypes and mock-ups for early Engineering evaluation.
    1. In the early phases of design, Engineering builds quick prototypes or mock-ups to existing product for internal and customer evaluation.
    2. Prototypes may expedite the customer decisions regarding changes to the product. The entire decision process will influence overall project timing
  4. Enter Lessons Learned in Database. Develop and upload design guideline updates into Corporate Design Standards
  5. Drawing Release Process. Assist Design Department with Drawing Release including Change Notice System.
  6. Supplemental work for Product Engineers.

        Other Responsibilities:

        1. Work with Engineers in the development, documentation, testing, and benchmarking activities related to prototypes and new product launch.
        2. Other duties as assigned.

        Education & Experience:

        1. High school diploma pursuing and pursuing an Engineering related degree
        2. Previous experience in Mechanics, Plastics, molding, painting and/or assembly in a manufacturing environment preferred.

        Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

        1. Mechanical aptitude with ability to read and understand blueprint schematics.
        2. Capable of working with various testing equipment.
        3. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products.
        4. Strong documentation abilities with attention to detail.
        5. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with others.
        6. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Must be able to translate technical findings into narrative that can be easily understood by users at all levels. Narrative in reports must be easily understood.
