Position summary:
The Assistant Controller position executes, directs, and controls the general accounting and financial reporting for the business. This position is responsible for the general ledger, balance sheet, year-end audit, and general accounting functions of the business. Supports the budget, cost control and fixed assets. Informs the financial accounting and reporting systems and direct changes to improve processes, systems and performance. Recommends and implements enhancements to company policies and procedures. Ensures company accounting procedures conform to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Essential Responsibilities:
1. Oversees the GL Accounting, including reviewing, approving, and personally recording journal entries, in an accurate, well documented, and timely manner. This includes both during closing, and throughout the accounting period. 2. Liaises the internal and external financial reporting for the Company, providing financial reporting and analysis, both regular and ad hoc reports, coordinating with executives, FP&A, and treasury management. 3. Handles all aspects of intercompany accounting, including combinations, eliminations, and currency conversions for international business units. 4. Establish position as the company subject matter expert (SME) for consolidations, both for statutory accounting and management reporting purposes. 5. Record general ledger and fixed asset transactions, maintaining accurate, thorough, and timely completion of reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts. 6. Execute the monthly accounting team closing schedule, recording journal entries in a timely manner, advising management of operating results and exceptions as observed during the closing process, and resulting in accurate financial statements for management and ownership. 7. Analyze and discuss monthly operating results against budget and forecast, with a particular focus on balance sheet fluctuation analysis during the closing process, enabling management to make decisions prior to final closing. 8. Direct and lead internal finance process reviews and implement recommendations for procedural improvements. 9. Recommend and implement benchmarks and KPIs for measuring the financial and operating performance of the Company and departments. 10. Facilitate the preparation of the official annual audited financial report. 11. Liaise responses with external compliance authorities, including Sales and Use Tax audits, and government surveys as required by law. |
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
- At least 3 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and specified responsibilities
- High School diploma required
- Proficient computer skills including ten-key and Excel
Non-Essential Responsibilities:
- Tooling and Capital invoices
- Temp labor accruals
- Concur review of expenses and approval for payment
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Knowledge of automated financial accounting reporting systems.
- Working knowledge of short- and long-term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and product-line profitability analysis.
- Communicate effectively with senior and executive leadership.
- Analysis of financial data.
- Preparation of financial reports, statements, and projections.
- Systems automation experience with tools such as Visual Basic or Alteryx, for existing routinized processes, and processes that can readily be standardized.
- Report writing in Microsoft Dynamics AX and Infor General Ledger systems.
