At Arctic Wolf, we're not just navigating the cybersecurity landscape - we're redefining it. Our global team of dedicated Pack members is driving innovation and setting new industry standards every day. Our impact speaks for itself: we've earned recognition on the Forbes Cloud 100, CNBC Disruptor 50, Fortune Future 50, and Fortune Cyber 60 lists, and we recently took home the 2024 CRN Products of the Year award. We’re proud to be named a Leader in the IDC MarketScape for Worldwide Managed Detection and Response Services and earning a Customers' Choice distinction from Gartner Peer Insights. Our Aurora Platform also received CRN’s Products of the Year award in the inaugural Security Operations Platform category. Join a company that’s not only leading, but also shaping, the future of security operations.

Our mission is simple: End Cyber Risk. We’re looking for a Lead Software Developer to be part of making that happen.

About the Role

You’ll be working as a lead software developer on our Applications Team, responsible for delivering the cloud-based software that helps solve the real-world security problems that IT professionals face. We develop the internal data pipelines, algorithms and tools used by the security services team to keep our customers safe and informed.

A lead developer is responsible for providing the team technical direction to deliver high value, performant software solutions. The lead developer will provide technical guidance and direction to a team of developers through the design, implementation and automated/integration testing of our software. They will also provide guidance on best practices for running, monitoring, and maintaining our system. This is different from a Team Lead. The Team lead is responsible for leading the team and projects that team works on.

Some of your day-to-day responsibilities will be:

  • Influence the work of team members and mentor emerging technical leaders.

  • Demonstrate advanced, wide-ranging experience, using in-depth professional knowledge, acumen, concepts and company objectives to develop, resolve complex models and procedures. Provides solutions to issues in creative and effective ways. Understands the interrelationships of different disciplines. Directs the application of existing principles and guides development of new policies and ideas. Build well-designed, testable, efficient, secure code.

  • Share your deep understanding of the product and how Security Services delivers the service.

  • Understand and work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

  • Determine methods and procedures on new assignments.

  • Exercise judgment in selecting methods, evaluating, adapting of complex techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

  • Your work is reviewed upon completion and is consistent with departmental objectives.

  • Contribute to the growth and mentorship of other team members

  • Develop trusted cross-team relationships to deliver solutions that span multiple areas of expertise

We value a culture of sharing, so every team has the opportunity to share their work with the entire department during our monthly R&D Demos. Once a year we hold a department-wide Hackathon, teaming up across all R&D teams over four days to collaborate and build cool ideas outside the normal project scope. While innovation is the focus, some of these ideas do make it into our products.

About You

  • Minimum 8 years of software development experience, demonstrating deep technical expertise and consistent delivery of high-quality solutions.

  • Minimum 2 years in a technical leadership role, with proven ability to guide teams and lead complex engineering projects.

  • Proven leadership experience from previous projects, regardless of formal title, showing initiative and ownership of outcomes.

  • Independently perform programming tasks and manage large-scale engineering efforts with confidence and precision.

  • Lead technical projects regularly, providing mentorship and guidance to other developers.

  • Demonstrate mastery of software development best practices, including the creation of reusable and scalable design patterns.

  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, often translating complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.

  • Possess outstanding communication skills, striving for clarity and concise exchange of ideas and concepts.

  • Exhibit a strong analytical mindset, approaching problems with structured thinking and data-driven decision-making.

  • Act as a go-getter, proactively identifying opportunities, taking initiative, and driving results.

  • Show a keen interest in designing algorithms and solving computational challenges.

Here are some of the core technologies we use and teach across our Applications teams. You should have experience in one or more of these, or similar technologies:

  • Golang

  • AWS

  • Kafka

  • Postgres

  • Git

  • Docker

  • Kubernetes

You have a history of delivering successful projects, as well as some lessons learned from failures. Even if you haven’t worked with all of our specific technologies, you bring a diverse knowledge base that you use to help the team solve complex technical problems. You’ll receive all the security training you need during our onboarding process and through additional training on the job

On-Camera Policy

  • To support a fair, transparent, and engaging interview experience, candidates interviewing remotely are expected to be on camera during all video interviews.

  • Being on camera fosters authentic connection, improves communication, and allows for full engagement from both candidates and interviewers.

  • We understand that technical, bandwidth, or location-related challenges may occasionally prevent video use. If this applies, candidates are required to notify us in advance so we can explore appropriate accommodations.
