POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sourcing Project Engineer is responsible for aiding in the execution of manufacturing and capacity projects to support supply chain growth initiatives. The role will support project management activities to onboard and qualify external suppliers, including Metal Complex Machining, MIM, plastic injection molding & various other partners, to ensure manufacturability. The Sourcing Project Engineer will focus project efforts on process optimization which can include changes to manufacturing methodology and supply chain strategy. This person will support the implementation and proper execution of the component life cycle process. This person will collaborate and work closely as a technical liaison between AtriCure engineering and suppliers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

  • Support and execute assigned activities within technical and supply chain–related projects to help enable long-term growth at strategic suppliers.
  • Develop and apply working knowledge of change management & component lifecycle processes in a regulated medical device environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Regulatory, Quality, Manufacturing & Product Development) to ensure supplier changes and projects are executed in accordance with AtriCure procedures and applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, ISO).
  • Assist with coordination and tracking of supplier-related projects, including timelines, documentation, and action item follow-up.
  • Support new supplier or component onboarding activities, including data gathering, documentation preparation, and internal coordination.
  • Assist in evaluating supplier technical capabilities by reviewing manufacturing processes, specifications, and supporting documentation.
  • Participate in supplier communications, including meeting preparation and follow-up on assigned actions.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records, reports, and project documentation within required systems and databases.
  • Assist with inspection method alignment/development by collaborating with supplier and incoming inspection group.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to assess assembly and production impacts of proposed supplier changes while adhering to established change management processes.
  • Contribute to identifying and implementing supply chain continuous improvement opportunities under guidance from more experienced team members.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a technical role supporting the manufacture of complex products – medical device preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, technical writing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in manufacturing and manufacturing technologies.
  • Experience in problem solving and trouble shooting.
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, specifications.
  • Highly-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changes.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Medical Device, Pharmaceutical or other regulated industry experience.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to develop knowledge and performance within a team.
  • Experience working with suppliers in component development and project execution.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to regularly walk, sit, or stand as needed
  • Ability to occasionally bend and push/pull as needed
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
