Under the direction of the Medical Director and Radiology Supervisor, the MRI Technologist is responsible for performing a wide variety of MRI examinations, exercising professional judgement in the performance of these procedures, and providing patient care. Works closely with leadership, research, and the radiologist to produce the most diagnostic images possible in accordance with the department protocols.

Duties and Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Operationalizes study protocols and procedures to obtain satisfactory films for the Radiologist interpretation.

  • Gathers patient history, addresses patient concerns, and provides appropriate explanation of examinations to patients. Assumes care for the physical and psychological needs of patients during MRI procedures.

  • Performs a wide variety of support functions for the department, which may include transporting patients, scheduling exams, filing and maintaining patient records, inventory management and processing of images.

  • Safely operates MRI imaging equipment. Controls inventory supplies for assigned area.

  • Administers contrast per operational policies and protocols under the direction of the radiologist.

  • Monitors the patient during exam to ensure their safety while in the MR suite.

  • Appropriately screens each patient for metal hazards, to reduce potential injury to patient when exposed to high strength magnetic fields.

  • Performs quality control procedures as required by regulatory standards to ensure that MRI equipment if functioning properly and notifies leadership of malfunctions.

  • Additional daily duties as required by BAMF Health policies and protocols.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate of Science Degree required

  • ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT Certification required

  • BLS required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of related experience preferred

  • NMTCB cross training into PET preferred

  • MRSO preferred

Schedule Details:

  • Employment Status: Full time (1.0 FTE)

  • Weekly Scheduled Hours: 40

  • Hours of work: Rotating starting time each week from 7:30 am- 4:00 pm or 8:30-5:00 pm.

  • Days worked: Monday to Friday
