Position Description
As a DASI Simulation Engineer, you will work directly with our Operations Team and other biomedical engineers to learn about computational modeling, cardiac surgery, and the role of modeling in planning heart surgeries such as transcatheter aortic valve replacement. You will be responsible for performing some or all of the following activities:
- Participating in retrospective and prospective patient image-based computational analysis.
- Participate in and take initiative on ongoing training activities to update / learn new technological updates related to patient modeling.
- Assist with research and product development tasks as needed.
- Develop and qualify a variety of production processes for new and updated products.
- Create instructions for production.
- Organize and plan project management activities and give detailed updates to the team.
- Write, submit, and follow up on project documentation: protocols, reports, drawings, and instructions.
- Assist with other projects as needed.
- Assist with preparing and presenting presentations as needed.
- Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions and provide relevant feedback.
- Represent DASI simulations in networking events and activities, research, and clinical conferences as and when needed.
- Support team with and perform a variety of administrative tasks.
Required Qualifications and Skills
This position requires the following skills and attributes:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering or Life Science.
- Understanding of basic engineering principles such as computer programming and data analysis.
- An interest in start-up/entrepreneurial companies (medical industry preferred).
- Excellent written and oral communication/presentation skills
- Basic background on human cardiovascular anatomy & physiology
- Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with medical image processing (e.g. segmentation, 3d modeling)
- Experience or knowledge of medical device technology development
- Prior experience with modeling and visualization software like Tecplot, Solid works, Blender, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics
- Programming experience with C++, Python, Matlab
- Data Analysis experience (Minitab, R)
- Desirably a real-world experience and demonstrable examples of your work
