Gecko Robotics is currently hiring new graduates to begin full-time in Spring or Summer of 2025.

Role at a Glance

As an Autonomy Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering world-class autonomy systems for Gecko’s inspection robots. You will work hands-on in our Pittsburgh based Accelerator lab with Gecko’s robots and other 3rd party systems to develop autonomy systems from the ground up, starting with sensor selection. Your solutions will power Gecko’s inspection deliverables under some of the most challenging field conditions.

What you will do

  • Be an active contributor to the autonomy codebase

  • Design, implement, and test autonomy systems that work well in a wide range of operating conditions and environments

  • Get hands-on with the robots to test autonomy solutions and work with the Test and Reliability team to improve system level testing

  • Stay informed on state of the art autonomy technologies

  • Contribute to expanding the Intellectual Property portfolio of the company

Technologies We Use (If Applicable)

C++, Python, Ros

About You

  • Bachelors or master’s in computer science, Robotics Engineering, or related technical field. Internship experience in relevant areas is best suited.

  • Practical experience with ROS is required.

  • 2+ years of experience in C++ and python.

  • Experience with one or more of the following additional skills:

    • Sensor fusion

    • SLAM pipeline

    • Inertial and Wheel Odometry

    • Motion Planning

    • Controls

    • Perception

  • Knowledge of Git, Jira, and Confluence or similar tools.

  • Experience with Linux and command-line tools.

  • Libraries such as OpenCV, PCL, ROS, Boost, Eigen.

Required Skills (If Applicable)

  • Demonstrated experience developing localization, perception, or motion planning systems

  • Production programming experience in C++ and Python

  • Demonstrated experience deploying autonomy features on robots

  • Experience with ROS, Docker, and Git
