POSITION OVERVIEW
The Mobile Engineer III actively leads the design, development, and maintenance of innovative mobile applications. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams and leverage expertise in mobile development to build user-friendly, responsive and feature-rich applications. This position requires on-site work at Gentex facilities. This role is not eligible for remote work.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Mentor other developers, share knowledge, and contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and practices.
- Lead the design and development of complex mobile applications, driving innovation and excellence in both technical solutions and user experience.
- Architect scalable and maintainable mobile solutions, leveraging industry best practices and emerging technologies.
- Perform requirements and user flow analysis to define scope of projects.
- Evaluate and recommend tools, frameworks, and technologies to enhance the mobile development process and platform capabilities.
- Learn about emerging technologies and trends in mobile development to contribute innovative ideas and solutions.
- Take ownership of assigned project tasks ensuring adherence to project timelines and objectives.
- Create, manage and maintain high-quality documentation including mobile design artifacts and knowledgebases.

WHAT TO BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience with a proven record of accomplishment as a Mobile app developer in iOS, Android, or a cross-platform framework.
- Expertise in native (e.g. iOS/Android) or cross-platform (e.g. Flutter) app development with a deep understanding of mobile platform internals.
- Experience designing and architecting large-scale mobile applications with complex features and requirements.
- Proficiency with Dart, Swift, or Kotlin.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g. Git).
- Proficiency with mobile app IDEs such as Xcode, Visual Studio Code, Android Studio, or other development tools.
- Experience following software development methodologies such as Agile.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
WHAT WILL HELP
- Experience providing technical leadership to a team of engineers.
- Strong continuous improvement mindset and eagerness to improve the team’s work environment.
- Familiarity with deploying mobile apps for internal testing.
- Experience using Postman or other similar tools.
- Experience releasing mobile apps on Google Play and Apple app stores.
- Solid understanding of software development lifecycle models.
- Familiarity with design tools such as Figma and Sketch.
- Knowledge and experience applying UI/UX best practices.
- Cybersecurity Certifications or Experience.
- Experience building inclusive and accessible mobile apps.
- Experience with analytics platforms such as Firebase.
- Familiarity with state management.
- Experience working with Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
