POSITION OVERVIEW
The Employee Benefits Director I will lead and direct the activities of the Employee Benefits team.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Set and execute the global benefits strategy that aligns with business objectives with the support of other members of the management team.
- Ensure benefit plan compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of benefit programs, ensure benefits programs are aligned with corporate culture and provide recommendations to Senior Leadership.
- Evaluate vendors, manage performance, and participate in contract renewal process and strategy with benefits vendors including Medical, Dental, Vision, Wellbeing, On-site Medical Clinic, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, FSA, HSA, Critical Illness, Accident, Hospital Indemnity, EAP, 401k, etc.
- Oversee communication of benefit programs to all Gentex team members and covered dependents.
- Supervise and manage staff, with responsibilities including, but not limited to, hiring, onboarding, evaluating performance, communicating expectations, and handling and/or supporting disciplinary actions of team members pursuant to Company policies and procedures.

WHAT TO BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- 10+ years of experience working in benefits administration.
- 4+ years of experience leading teams.
- Extensive experience overseeing vendor relationships, vendor contract renewals (i.e. Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs)), and performance management across a comprehensive suite of employee benefits programs.
- Experience overseeing self-funded plans, including plan documents and cost management as well as stop-loss coverage.
- Leadership in executing vendor transitions, including RFP development, evaluation, and implementation.
- Experience leading open enrollment for an organization that includes multiple states, facilities and shifts, including content development and collaboration with internal marketing teams.
- Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional projects with internal and external stakeholders to successful, on-time completion.
- Strong track record of managing healthcare budgets and evaluating 401(k) fund performance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
WHAT WILL HELP
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP.
- Experience leading benefits programs for employees in multiple states and countries.
- Experience with acquisitions, mergers and consolidation of health plans.
- Experience with training employees on benefits platforms and how to access their benefits, both in-person and virtual.
- Experience with global benefit administration, including, but not limited to Canada.
- Experience with 401k plan fund changes, administration and participant communication.
