Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant to join our fast-paced Accounting team. This individual will be responsible for supporting Govini’s first build-out of SOX compliance, PCAOB standards adherence, EDGAR filings, and SEC reporting readiness. This is a critical role in preparing the company for public company standards within a dynamic, high-growth environment.
You will work closely with the CFO and the accounting manager for SOX & SEC reporting, as well as the rest of the finance team and will have the opportunity to help build scalable financial processes and controls from the ground up.

This role is a full-time position located in our office in Arlington, VA (not remote or hybrid).
This role may require up to 10% travel.
Scope of Resposibilities
- Assist in the design, implementation, and documentation of internal controls over financial reporting (SOX compliance).
- Prepare financial reports and documentation aligned with PCAOB standards.
- Assist in drafting financial statements and disclosures for future SEC reporting.
- Support the preparation and organization of EDGAR filings.
- Partner with external auditors to support the audit process.
- Prepare reconciliations for key accounts and ensure compliance with technical accounting standards.
- Assist in the development of financial policies and procedures to support SOX and SEC compliance.
- Serve as a key team member in readiness projects supporting IPO preparation.
- Maintain and leverage NetSuite for reporting and controls management.
- Other ad-hoc accounting and finance projects as needed.
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship is required
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (CPA required)
- 3-6 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with Big 4 or national public accounting firms and/or a pre-IPO company
- Hands-on leadership preparing and/or supporting SOX compliance and PCAOB audit requirements
- Experience preparing for or supporting SEC reporting processes (e.g. Forms 10-K, 10-Q)
- Advanced working knowledge of NetSuite
- Highly detail-oriented; able to work independently with periodic CFO and accounting manager check-ins
- Strong Excel and/or Google Sheets and financial systems skills
Desired Skills
- Experience in or exposure to the nuances of a startup or other entrepreneurial environment
- Direct exposure to EDGAR filing processes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
