Job Description:

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Senior Design Integrator/ Senior Installation Engineer who is preferably a California Licensed Professional Electrical Engineer and thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will have solid experience in the rail industry, managing wayside installation design and routing cables along the track and within technical rooms. This position is based in Oakland, California.

Responsibilities:
• Ensure that the CBTC project complies with the contract, system requirements, and local electrical regulations.
• Design and instruct subcontractor designers to route cables within technical rooms and along the track system, managing filling ratios, challenging existing pathways, and proposing new ones.
• Manage and seek resolution of technical interfaces between engineering installation works and technological systems/subsystems.
• Ensure the application of quality procedures for document issuance at every stage of design.
• Identify critical issues in project development and propose mitigation actions.
• Represent the installation engineering team and support design choices with the client.
• (If with the PE stamp) Seal documents and drawings prepared by, or under direct supervision, as part of professional engineering services rendered to the public. This may include power design, signaling, or other subsystems that are inputs to engineering installation documents.
• Proficiently use Bluebeam and CAD software for interface definition and management, as part of the project delivery strategy according to the Engineering Management Plan.


Required Skills/Knowledge:
• 5 to 10 years of experience in Electrical Works within the Railway Engineering context, especially in construction and installation design. Additional expertise in the railway context is considered a plus.
• Operational Competencies:
o Survey field locations and gather information on existing infrastructure to complete installation design when necessary.
o Identify, understand, and overcome installation challenges during design development.
o Size pathways and raceways, considering existing conditions and filling.
o Familiarity with Requirement Traceability Matrix and Interface Registers tools.
o Design management of contractor and subcontractor activities: contract requirements and design process control.
o Previous construction experience is a plus.
o Demonstrate critical attention to detail and deadlines and be self-motivated.
o Ability to adapt well to changes in direction and priorities in a project and deadline-oriented environment.

Software:
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office (Word/Excel). (Autodesk Revit or 3D software is considered a plus but it is not necessary).


Education:
• Electrical Engineering University Degree or Equivalent Technical Background.

The salary range for this position is $121,000 to $182,000 per year. Final pay is determined by the candidate’s experience, skillset and ability level, internal equity and location.
