Senior Bioinformatician (full-time, regular)

Description:

Lead the development and strategic deployment of analytical solutions for genomic structural variation. Spearhead data analysis initiatives to accelerate annotation and interpretation of genomics structural variation in genes. Design and implement custom bioinformatics data pipelines and user interfaces to analyze results from electronic genome mapping and other genomic data. Integrate bioinformatics, genomics, and functional data to generate new insights. Communicate scientifically rigorous findings through written communications, visualizations, and presentations. Lead bioinformatics projects and analyses to resolve the complexities of genomic structural variation from electronic genome mapping data. Define strategic direction and analysis plans to drive innovative research projects internally or externally to improve analytic pipelines. Provide technical leadership and expertise to the bioinformatics pipeline and architecture. Collaborate across internal and external teams and disciplines to solve problems. Lead and contribute to scientific publications, conference presentations, technical reports, and to internal knowledge transfer.

20% of time spent traveling domestically and internationally to customer locations and conferences.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or the foreign equivalent) in Bioinformatics, Biotechnology or related field.

  • 3 years of experience in the job offered or related.

  • Experience with:

    • development of genomic structural variant algorithm in R/Python;

    • high-value structural variant research/clinical applications on inherited disorders, cancer, and cell/gene therapy;

    • engineering and sequencing unique gene vectors and generating stable cell lines for adoptive cell therapy;

    • molecular biology techniques relevant for bioinformatics data generation (DNA cloning, manipulation, and analysis); and

    • genetics of various cell lines, mouse models & human samples for technology development and validation.

Salary: $154,500.00/year
