Job Description:
Mission:
The Project Engineer ensures effective coordination of the system design and implementation on budget, on time complying with the agreed requirements for projects with minor tailoring of an existing product solution.
Accountabilities:
- Responsible for updating project plans and project documents
- Responsible for working with customers and suppliers on technical solutions
- Responsible for estimating the work package solution
- Responsible for ensuring on time, on budget, delivery of an engineering software solution
- Responsible for leading work packet, Project Monitoring and Control activities including maintaining schedule, CTC, MPR updates, meeting minutes, risk register, and change orders
- Prioritization and monitoring of software problem report status, and execution of tasks within functional areas that include engineering and software development activities
- Facilitates scope/requirement discussions with technical teams and customers
- Active participation in optimal overall project technical solution
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- 7+ years of experience as project engineer or systems engineer for large software control system applications
- Prior experience with basic Project Management:
- Schedule monitoring/development
- Estimation
- Resource and task management
- Customer Negotiation
- Extensive understanding and/or prior experience with software development lifecycles, delivery, and HW/SW integration lifecycles
- Experience with Requirement Management
- Strong prior experience with Microsoft Office Suite, scheduling software (MS Project), requirements management systems, and software configuration tools
- Prior experience managing Medium sized projects and project teams
- Demonstrated ability to lead, engage, and manage tasking of cross-functional teams of varying skills/experience
- Success with multi-tasking across multiple projects at given time
- Builds effective relationships and has exceptional communication skills
- Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
Desired Skills/Knowledge:
- Prefer rail or rail transit domain experience
- Prefer experience supporting Bids and Proposals for new work
Education:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or higher related discipline is required
Languages:
English proficient
