Job title: Applications Project Engineering Manager
Location: Eastleigh (Hybrid working with international travel required)
Salary: £80-84k DOE
Your new role
Here at Hitachi Rail, we have a fantastic opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced Applications Project Engineering Manager to join the team. Reporting directly to the Head of Projects and Services you will lead a team of Project Engineers with global scope of works.
Alongside the people management elements of the role, you will also take ownership of your own projects working closely with our customers, both internally and externally, varying across different countries therefore the willingness and ability to travel internationally is a must.
You will be responsible for the below:
- Run projects of your own, as well as manage a team of Project Managers
- Generation of detailed development and installation plans
- Responsible for executing the plan, ensuring time, cost and quality targets are met
- Work closely with the customer to ensure all requirements are captured and met
- Conduct onsite surveys to allow selection of optimum installation locations
- Working flexibly with various internal engineering teams to ensure all aspects of the design and documentation are delivered on time
- Working collaboratively with established partner organisations to deliver robust integration of test plans within defined timelines
- Liaise with operations to ensure build, shipping and installation schedules are met
- Support the generation of new commercial bids
About you
Essential
- Demonstrate the ability to develop and lead a team of project managers with varying skills and experience.
- Experience in situational leadership, adapting your style and approach to the team to accomplish the goals.
- Experience in developing plans, setting deadlines, and working out timescales, resources, and costs.
- Cradle-to-grave experience in project engineering of long-life cycle, electro-mechanical products
- Adept at tracking work, monitoring and reporting on progress, issues, quality, and risks
- An understanding across a broad range of fundamental scientific principles
- Solving issues that arise and adapting plans to meet changes
- Good communication skills for reporting progress to management & clients, and communicating the need for change within the business area
Qualifications
- High-level degree in engineering, preferably specialising in electro-mechanical engineering.
- Prince2 or APM certified.
Desirable Requirements
- You will have practical, hands-on experience working with electro-mechanical equipment, as well as experience relating to the conformance of equipment to engineering standards
- Experience working in the rail industry
- An understanding across a broad range of fundamental scientific principles
