Inside Sales- Technical & Sales Support Specializing in Pumps and Other Equipment

Summary of the position:

The Inside Sales Support role provides internal and external customer sales and technical support. This role will serve as first point of contact for incoming sales requests. The inside sales support role owns requests that can be fulfilled at first level and those that need to be triaged to the other levels of the organization due to complexity or time restraints. This role reports to the General Manager. It is a full-time position Monday through Friday.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Receive inbound customer requests for equipment/product quotation and the providing of appropriate and timely responses to those requests. Coordinate with geography-specific salesperson for follow-up.

  • As needed, provide quote and product information support for the outside salespeople. This will include interacting with customers by sending them equipment specifications, quotes, and other data necessary in the sales process.

  • Perform basic and intermediate product and system sizing, based on end user inquiries, if knowledge base allows.

  • Collaborate with General Manager and outside sales staff to create and track product stock orders to ensure appropriate inventory is on hand or in the stock order pipeline. In addition, ensure that equipment needed for sold orders is either in-stock or on order and accurate lead-times communicated to the salespeople.

  • Create and maintain weekly and monthly sales activity reports as assigned by the General Manager.

  • Participate in weekly staff meeting to provide updates on items of interest to this position and others.

  • Collaborate with the warehouse staff to maintain up-to-date information on warehouse stock. This will include ensuring the inventory list is accurate and up to date as well as ensuring the location of the equipment in stock is noted and accurate. The inventory list will be provided weekly to the sales staff.

  • Lead generation, out bound prospecting and tele-qualifying.

  • Annually perform competitor cross reference of product, parts, and equipment.

  • Ensure that all paperwork, purchase orders, sales, etc. are maintained to respond to customer inquiries timely and ensure internal process requirements.

  • Ensure the upkeep of sales tools (i.e. including CRM) and product training is current.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with and a knowledge of rotating industrial equipment; specific experience pumps and pumps systems, pump parts, natural gas engines and compressors.

  • Excellent oral & written communication skills with the ability to ask the right questions to investigate the best customer solution.

  • Positive customer-focused attitude and successful interaction in a dynamic team environment is a must.

  • Proficiency with MS Office software, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and manufacturing operating systems, etc. Experience with SAP and CRM tools are a plus.

Education:

  • High school diploma required.

  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus on engineering or other technical discipline a plus.

Professional experience:

  • Minimum 2-years of experience in an industrial or commercial equipment in a distribution environment, preferably in the use and/or application of compressed air systems – specific to direct sales (equipment, parts, service) of that equipment.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with key stakeholders and co-workers.

  • Experience in CAD or reading technical drawings/information a plus.
