Job Description:

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated CMM Programmer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Batesburg, SC.

Accountabilities:

Inspects Commercial off the Shelf items (COTS), electronic assemblies, castings & machined components. Inspects for a variety of qualities such as dimensions, workmanship, compliance with Hitachi drawings and technical specifications.

  • Creates Quality Notifications (QN), Quarantines Non-Conforming product to the appropriate area & distributes the QN via email to the Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer for resolution.

  • Conducts First Article Inspections (FAI), records findings on the associated forms & makes entries on the FAI SharePoint site.

  • Records inspection results in via SAP

  • Assists in gathering department assets for weekly calibration

Required skills/experience:

  • HS diploma (or equivalent) plus 3+ years of incoming inspection experience or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • CMM experience with PC-DMIS Software (CAD & Non-CAD)

  • Experience using common measuring tools such as micrometres, calipers, dial indicators, height gages, Shadowgraph, thread gages & hardness tester

  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications, including Geometric Dimensioning &Tolerancing

  • Proficient use of Microsoft office suite: Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Strong oral and written & communication skills to clearly present data from findings

  • Able to make decisions regarding product acceptance utilizing product documentation and company workmanship criteria

  • Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships with stakeholders

  • Self-motivated nature, able to work effectively with minimum close supervision
