As a Senior Primary Substation Engineer in our Grid & Power Quality Solutions (GPQS) team, you’ll be at the forefront of innovation, working with Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) to optimize grid performance and stability.

Whether it’s designing HV substations, performing electro-mechanical calculations, or coordinating complex projects, your work will help ensure that clean, efficient energy reaches communities across the continent.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Lead mechanical design for high-voltage transmission substation projects

  • Develop station layouts, grounding plans, and lightning protection systems

  • Perform mechanical calculations for structural steel, illumination, and magnetic fields

  • Create and manage 3D models using Revit and BIM tools

  • Coordinate with electrical, civil, and system engineering teams

  • Review vendor drawings and ensure alignment with project specs

  • Support testing, installation, and commissioning activities

  • Engage directly with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors

  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines

Your Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering

  • 5–10 years of experience in mechanical/electrical engineering

  • Strong knowledge of NEC, ANSI/IEEE standards

  • Experience with FACTS or HV substations

  • Proficiency in Revit and Autodesk Construction Cloud

  • Skilled in electro-mechanical calculations and plant design

  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States
