Position Summary
The NPD Engineering team is seeking a motivated Engineering Intern to support key activities in new product development, including Piping & Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) standardization, design validation, documentation, and value engineering. This internship provides hands-on exposure to engineering workflows, technical documentation, product development processes, and cross-functional collaboration.
This role is ideal for students seeking real-world engineering experience within an innovative, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Define library symbols and component operations
- Establish guidelines for symbol usage
- Identify required information for P&ID documentation
- Facilitate meetings and gather feedback from engineering and service teams
- Assist with reviewing and reporting engineering test results
- Support creation of technical documents including manuals, data sheets, and reports
- Contribute to design and testing activities for electronic thermal management initiatives
- Conduct bill of material (BOM) analysis to identify cost-reduction opportunities
- Generate component-level and system-level VA/VE ideas
- Create and execute project plans, including design and validation activities

Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
- CAD experience (SolidWorks, NX, or similar)
- Hands-on lab or build experience a plus
- Proficiency with standard business computer applications (Microsoft Office, Windows, etc.)
Soft Skills
- Strong collaboration and project management fundamentals
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Willingness to seek clarification, ask questions, and provide timely updates
Preferred Education Level
Bachelor’s degree in Progress - Mechanical Engineering
Preferred standing: 2nd or 3rd year undergraduate students.
Internship Program Criteria
- Must be a full-time enrolled student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree at an accredited U.S. college/university
- Minimum 2.5 or above GPA preferred
- Must be able to complete internship from May–August 2026.
- Must be able to complete 40 hours per week
- Willingness to learn from others on the job
- Must be currently residing within the continental U.S.
Compensation
- Hourly rate: $20–$25, depending on education level and skill set.
