The Opportunity

Join Hitachi Energy as an Industrial Engineer, where you will play a pivotal role in shaping the physical flow and operational efficiency of a world‑class production environment. This is an exciting opportunity to lead high‑impact layout transformations, optimize material flow, and design production spaces that support safe, stable, and scalable operations.

In this role, you will influence everything from workstation design to major equipment transitions, partnering across Operations, Quality, Safety, Facilities, and Engineering to bring forward innovative solutions that enhance performance and reduce waste. You’ll take ownership of the factory’s master layout, drive Lean improvements, and support cutting‑edge manufacturing processes that power a more sustainable energy future.

If you thrive in fast‑paced environments, enjoy solving complex operational challenges, and excel at turning conceptual ideas into practical, on‑the‑floor execution, this opportunity allows you to make a lasting impact every day.

Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Lead facility space planning, production moves, and phased transitions with minimal operational disruption.

  • Drive Lean transformations across Mechanical Test Bays, the High Voltage Lab, Shipping, and Material Handling.

  • Design and standardize workstation layouts, material presentation methods, and visual management systems.

  • Conduct time studies, line balancing, and flow analysis to validate staffing and improve throughput.

  • Lead crane and material‑handling infrastructure planning, coordinating with external vendors.

  • Perform field measurements, constraint analysis, and feasibility reviews before installation.

  • Govern modular workstation systems (Creform/80‑20), including standards and documentation.

  • Collaborate cross‑functionally to ensure physical changes align with process, safety, and compliance requirements.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean principles.

  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and lead on‑floor implementation activities.

Your Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field required.

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, facility layout, or production optimization.

  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD with demonstrated success leading layout redesigns.

  • Strong understanding of material flow, workstation design, line balancing, and Lean Manufacturing.

  • Experience in heavy assembly, industrial equipment, high‑voltage, or engineered‑to‑order environments preferred.

  • Familiarity with crane systems or material‑handling infrastructure is a plus.

  • Knowledge of Lean, 5S, and CI methodologies; Six Sigma certification preferred.

  • Strong communication, analytical, and hands‑on problem‑solving skills.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a live production environment.

  • Flexibility to support extended hours during major moves or installation activities.
