Summary of the position:
The Planner Scheduler establishes and maintains the master production schedule and communicates the status of stock builds and customer orders for all products. This position evaluates input from sales, operations, supply chain, engineering and effectively utilizes operations resources to meet customer delivery requirements and provide targeted finished goods inventory levels.
This position is located on-site in Michigan City, Indiana, and reports to the Sr Manager, Business Planning.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Review sales orders and assign promise dates based on forecasts, production capacity, and material availability.
- Collaborates with Engineering, Procurement, and Operations in the alignment of Engineered To Order Requirements for Hitachi Global Air Power Customers.
- Responsible for the communication of shortages through a ‘Shortage Report.’ Modify production schedule and priorities to minimize overall impact of shortages on customers and Operation’s productivity.
- Daily release of work orders to Operations.
- Initiate deviations and make any necessary work order adjustments in JDE.
- Manage excess and obsolete inventory to include the identification of viable options that minimize overall impact to inventory cost.
- Work directly with employees to resolve scheduling issues.
- Reconcile inaccuracies with customer shipments and deliveries.
- Support safety awareness and ergonomic initiatives.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Associate degree or minimum of two years post high school training/experience. Bachelor’s degree in business management or related discipline preferred.
Professional experience:
- Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience with scheduling, inventory control or operations responsibility.
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and their application related to scheduling and inventory control.
- APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional preferred.
Key Skills:
- In depth knowledge of (MRP) Materials Requirements Planning, Work Order Management, and production control within an ERP-driven environment. JDE experience preferred.
- Efficient in project management discipline and capability to manage risk in a cross-functional organization.
- Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the desire and ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Organized and efficient; able to prioritize in a demanding environment and handle a heavy workload.
