About the Internship

The Product Support Engineering Intern will work closely with the Air End Product Support Engineering team to support operations and drive improvements in air end reliability. This internship provides hands-on engineering experience focused on problem-solving, design support, and technical documentation for OEM customers.

The selected intern will develop a foundational understanding of engineering investigation methods while contributing meaningful deliverables that support ongoing product performance and improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers in conducting product investigations related to air end performance and reliability.
  • Support design improvement efforts through data analysis, documentation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including engineering reports, assembly instructions, and OEM customer-facing materials.
  • Participate in root cause analyses and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, bill of materials (BOMs), and CAD models.
  • Contribute to engineering reviews, cross-functional meetings, and project discussions.

What You Will Learn

By the end of the internship, students will gain foundational experience in:

  • Experience with machined components, tolerancing, and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Practical understanding of root cause analysis methodologies
  • Familiarity with interpreting engineering drawings, BOMs, and CAD models
  • Foundational knowledge of rotary screw compressor air end design and function
  • Real-world engineering problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Cross-functional experience with engineering, operations, and quality teams
  • Enhanced communication skills through technical documentation and team interaction
  • Confidence working in a manufacturing environment

Skills & Qualifications

Required Technical Skills

  • Basic understanding of mechanical engineering principles
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Familiarity with any CAD platform
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn
  • Attention to detail and a proactive mindset

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Progress
  • Major: Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Minimum Completed: 1 year of coursework

Internship Program Criteria

  • Must be a full-time enrolled student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree at an accredited U.S. college/university
  • Minimum 2.5 or above GPA preferred
  • Must be able to complete internship from May–August 2026.
  • Must be able to complete 40 hours per week
  • Willingness to learn from others on the job
