Job Description:

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Senior Telecoms (Network) Engineer - Work Package Lead who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Pittsburgh, PA.

Travel Required

25% - mostly East Coast (primarily Baltimore, MD

Accountabilities

  • Plan, execute, monitor and control Design, configuration, test and commissioning activities for the telecommunication system according to the overall program schedule.
  • Identify, analyze and manage requirements
  • Identify and resolve interfaces internal and external to the Telecommunication System (e.g. Signaling, Rolling Stock, etc.)
  • Integrate medium-complex telecommunications systems with particular attention to Wired and Wireless Networking technologies
  • Prepare Conceptual, Preliminary, Detailed and Installation Design
  • Participate in products selection
  • Create Bill of Materials and support Purchasing Department to order equipment
  • Make sure assigned project/s are properly staffed to execute activities as planned
  • Keep assigned project/s budget under control
  • Manage and mitigate risks

Required Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of principles, practices, methods, terminology and trends in communications engineering
  • Working Knowledge of fiber optics, hardware and software related to wired and wireless communications.
  • Working knowledge of wireless communications in demanding scenarios
  • Exposure to Passenger Information Systems (onboard and wayside) technologies.
  • Working knowledge of planning and scheduling of activities using MS project, Primavera or other similar tools
  • Prior experience managing small-medium sized projects and project teams
  • Working knowledge of Test and commissioning processes
  • Skilled in handling electric, electronic, and mechanical drawings and schematics
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills and ability to communicate complex technical information

Desired Skills & Experience

  • knowledge of telecommunications systems for the railway industry
  • From 2 to 5 years of Railway System Engineering expertise

Education

Bachelors Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Computer Engineering or Information Technology OR at least a minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience

Language
English proficiency
