A Network Engineer is needed for a contract opportunity in Columbus, Ohio and will be responsible for overall support and implementation of LAN and WAN data communications networks with network access security systems.

Hybrid - must be onsite as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree
• Field of Study: Computer Science
• Years of experience: 1 to 3

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE

• Knowledge and skills typically acquired by completion of an undergraduate degree in Computer Networking or Computer Information science or equivalent
• Knowledge and application of growth and development principles.
• Utilization of effective communication strategies.
• Implementation of specific technical factors.

• Maintains confidentiality of log-on password(s) and security of other authentication devices (e.g., key fobs, proximity devices, etc.).
• Ensures privacy and security of information entrusted to their care.
• Uses company business assets and information resources for management-approved purposes only.
• Adheres to all information privacy and security policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines. Promptly reports information security incidents to the Information Security Officer.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• 30% Network Implementation
  • Responsible for the installation, configuration and management of technical area of responsibility whether local/wide area network, Remote connectivity, or DNS management including making recommendation for best technical solution, interfacing with vendors, providing documentation, and physical installs.
• 25% Network Troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Possesses knowledge of available tools to troubleshoot and minimize downtime, able to evaluate situation, make sound accurate decisions, and provide root cause analysis in a timely manner.
• 15% Network documentation.
  • Works with senior engineers and architect to update / create network diagrams and documentation. Provides assistance in network planning, engineering, architecture and the development of technical standards.
• 10% Network performance
  • Using existing tools for monitoring health of the network and capacity planning. Makes recommendation for improving existing network efficiencies.
• 10% Remote access
  • Managing Net screen and VPN application, seeks technical solution for allowing remote connectivity to client's infrastructure.
• 10%
  • Assists in the development and deployment of processes and/or performs the responsibilities and activities of functions and/or roles defined in ITIL

DESIRED ATTRIBUTES

• Network certifications a plus, specifically JNCIA / JNCIS.
• Knowledge and experience with TCP/IP protocols, subnet masking, OSI model, related protocols and applications.
• Experience in link state routing protocol (OSPF, BGP, etc.), experience configuring and managing routers, knowledge of VLAN technology, and speed and duplex settings.
• Implementation and management of wireless topology.
• Troubleshooting techniques and experience (ping, trace route, diagnostics methodology etc.)
• Good analytical approach to problem solving
• DNS, UNIX, DHCP knowledge a plus
• 2 3 years directly related experience with managing a sizable network including routers, switches and security devices.
