Director of Marketing (Data-Driven Growth & Demand Gen)
Location: Pittsburgh, PA | Reports to: CEO & Co-Founder | Team: 2-3 Direct Reports
ABOUT US
Honeycomb Credit is a platform where startups and small businesses can unlock the capital, coaching, and community they need to grow and thrive. At Honeycomb, we know that running a small business is hard, and every day we work to make life a little easier for entrepreneurs by unlocking fair capital and helping them to more authentically connect with their communities. We boast a product suite including reward crowdfunding, business coaching, corporate-sponsored business grants, and investment crowdfunding.
We’re looking for a data-obsessed, performance-focused marketing leader to build and run a scalable marketing engine that drives real results — not just clicks, but conversions and revenue. With a unique network of 500,000 small business members and 150,000 funders, Honeycomb Credit + IFundWomen is sitting on an untapped marketing goldmine — and we need someone who can harness it.
This isn’t a brand-only role. This is about experimentation, segmentation, funnel design, automation, and storytelling — all powered by data.
🌍 Why This Role Matters
We're at a pivotal moment. The opportunity to turn our platform into a data-driven growth engine is massive, and the right marketing leader will shape how we activate, engage, and grow one of the most unique networks in the country.
🚀 What You’ll Do
Build the Machine
- Architect and execute a data-driven, multi-channel marketing engine focused on lead generation, pipeline growth, and lifecycle optimization.
- Design a full-funnel strategy from awareness to loyalty, tracking performance at every stage using clear KPIs (MQLs, SQLs, CAC, LTV, conversion).
- Leverage the power of our two-sided network to build hyper-personalized campaigns for both sides of the marketplace.
Run the Experiments
- Launch, test, and iterate on high-impact campaigns across SEO, paid, email, content, and social — backed by rigorous A/B testing and analytics.
- Build dashboards to continuously evaluate campaign performance and optimize for ROI.
- Champion a scientific marketing mindset: hypothesis > test > learn > scale.
Turn Data Into Growth
- Work closely with product, engineering, and customer teams to extract insights from platform behavior and turn that into smart segmentation and targeting.
- Build models and systems that help predict which business owners or funders are most likely to convert — and act on those signals in real time.
Leverage Product To Guide the User Journey
- Collaborate with the Product team to understand new features and translate them into compelling market-facing messages.
- Gather market and customer feedback to inform marketing campaigns and contribute insights to product development.
- Support efforts to enhance the customer experience by providing marketing perspectives on user journeys and communication.
- Assist in developing go-to-market strategies for new offerings.
Lead and Collaborate
- Lead and mentor a small but mighty team of analysts, marketers, and content creators.
- Align marketing deeply with product, sales, and leadership — creating a shared view of what growth looks like and how to get there.
- Develop a unified, and compliant, brand position across Honeycomb Credit and IFundWomen — one that speaks to founders, funders, and institutional partners alike.
🧠 Who You Are
- A data science marketer at heart — you see the funnel as a math problem to solve and a story to tell.
- 7+ years of marketing experience, including leadership in performance marketing, lifecycle, or demand gen in fintech, SaaS, or a two-sided marketplace.
- Strong command of analytics, experimentation, segmentation, and automation tools (GA4, Looker, HubSpot, Iterable, etc.).
- Skilled in developing and scaling lead-gen campaigns, ideally for small business or financial audiences.
- Proven ability to work hands-on while building scalable systems and processes.
- Excited about building the marketing strategy from the ground up — and unafraid to get into the weeds.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Economics, Math, or similar; MBA or advanced technical/quant degree a plus.
