HR Payroll Specialist
Location: Preferred in Ft. Lauderdale, FL - Hybrid, In-office & remote

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable HR Payroll Specialist to join our growing technology company on a 6-month contractor basis, with the option to convert to an employee on January 1, 2026. This position is responsible for managing the end-to-end payroll process on a semi-monthly basis, overseeing tax registration and compliance reporting, and supporting various human resources functions as needed. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of payroll systems, tax regulations, payroll and benefits reporting, basic HR functions, and a proactive approach to ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Administration of the multi-state, semi-monthly payroll for 130+ employees using ADP Workforce Now (ADP WFN), including processing salary and hourly employee time sheets and special pay types, PTO and leave calculations, deductions, garnishments, bonuses and awards, adjustments, etc.
- Process regularly occurring payouts including bonuses, awards, retro pay, settlements, PTO payout at termination.
- Ensure the monthly processing of accurate commission reports for payroll, working with the performance management team and sales operations as needed. Update and utilize the non-sales variable tracking system used to calculate quarterly bonus payments.
- The payroll responsibility includes filing maintaining state tax registrations in 26+ states, handling payroll tax statements and notices, process semi-monthly 401K files, arrange and validate garnishments, year-end reporting, W-2’s, payroll accrual reports for the finance team and supporting reconciliations and audit documentation for payroll, workers compensation and benefits invoices.
- Reconciliation of payroll information to W2 on a quarterly and annual basis.
- Produce specific payroll and benefits reporting and requests for information. Provide information to accounting and human resources teams. Collaborate and problem solve issues as they arise.
- Monitor and troubleshoot integrations and carrier connections between ADP WFN and various benefits providers.
- Provide support for all internal and external audits, including general audits, worker’s compensation and more.
- Ensure compliance with laws and regulations minimizing risk for the company.
- Pro-actively participate in continuous improvement activities.
- Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on payroll and other related matters, such as policies, procedures and compliance.
- Assist in maintaining accurate employee pay information and records in ADP WFN and the global HRIS (HiBob), ensuring accuracy, data integrity and confidentiality.
- Assist as a backup for onboarding and new hire orientations, as well as other generalist tasks.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred but not required.
- 5 years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a technology company.
- Experience with multi-state payroll processing highly preferred.
- SHRM-CP, PHR or equivalent certification a plus, but not required.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws and tax regulations.
- Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Gusto, Paychex, or similar platforms and familiarity with HRIS utilization (e.g., BambooHR, HiBob, Workday, or similar).
- High level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
