THE ROLE:
This position requires daily customer, business partner, and internal team interaction. Working closely with the Sales teams, you will be engaged in the customer’s journey from the discovery phase to the post-sales handover.
A strong focus of this role lies in leading technical discovery, conducting customer workshops, and driving proof of concepts to successfully validate solutions. You will work closely with customers to understand their requirements, define use cases, and translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
The primary focus of this role is on engaging with large enterprise and upper mid-market (corporate) customers and prospects from Germany. These include strategic accounts across key industries such as Healthcare, Government, Finance, Manufacturing, and Retail, where complex environments demand customized, scalable EUC solutions.
This is a highly execution-driven role requiring strong hands-on involvement in customer environments and full ownership of technical engagements.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be part of a team of Presales engineers providing excellent service to IGEL’s customers and partners in Germany and across the EMEA region
  • Act as the primary technical contact for customers from discovery and qualification through to post-sales handover
  • Build and maintain strong customer and partner relationships through virtual meetings and on-site visits
  • Lead discovery activities by analyzing customer needs and translating them into technical solutions
  • Prepare, execute, and support proof of concepts (PoCs) to validate solutions in real customer environments
  • Take ownership of technical RFIs, RFPs, and public tenders, ensuring timely and high-quality responses
  • Work on complex enterprise projects within strategic accounts
  • Architect solutions in collaboration with customers and partners, aligned with IGEL reference architecture and best practices
  • Assist technology partners in integrating their solutions with IGEL OS and coordinate handover to the IGEL Ready team
  • Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in relevant technology areas
  • Use remote tools to demonstrate IGEL solutions and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Ensure clear, structured, and professional communication between internal teams and customers
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations, workshops, and demos, including proactive follow-up
  • Represent IGEL at industry events, partner events, and trade shows
  • Promote IGEL training offerings, services, and certifications to customers and partners
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Development, Customer Engineering, Advanced Services, Sales, Marketing, and Leadership
  • Provide structured feedback from customers and the market to Product Management and Development
  • Manage technical activities and opportunity progress through IGEL’s helpdesk and case management systems
  • Drive case ownership and escalation where needed to ensure forward momentum on sales opportunities
  • Work independently with a high degree of ownership and judgment
  • Support and mentor less-experienced colleagues
  • Continuously develop technical skills through training, certifications, and self-study
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues at the operating system and endpoint level
  • Travel as required to support customer engagements

Technical skills

  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience in a Presales Engineer or similar customer-facing technical role
  • Proven experience in leading end-to-end technical engagements, including discovery, customer workshops, solution design, and hands-on delivery of Proof of Concepts (PoCs), with full ownership of the technical sales cycle
  • Strong troubleshooting capabilities across endpoint, operating system, network, and cloud layers
  • Solid understanding of Linux operating systems
  • Working knowledge of Windows operating systems
  • Experience with EUC / VDI / DaaS technologies such as:
    • Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (RDS)
    • Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD)
    • AWS Workspaces / AppStream
    • Citrix
    • VMware Horizon
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of security-driven architectures, including endpoint security, Zero Trust, identity, and access management
  • Understanding of modern workspace and security-focused architectures
  • Experience with IGEL solutions (IGEL OS, UMS, IGEL Cloud Gateway) is preferred
  • Good understanding of the solutions offered by IGEL’s technology partners
