KLA is looking for an Opto-Mechanical Engineer in our Central Engineering Group in Ann Arbor. The engineer will work in a team of opto-mechanical design engineers and optical engineers, who are responsible for optics modules across different divisions and develop the next generation of KLA tools!
Successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Design of opto-mechanical sub-systems including precision mechanical components.
- Create drawings and models for a range of systems.
- Work with multi-functional groups and participate in system-level discussions including impact on overall system performance.
- Understand and drive system and subsystem requirement specifications.
- Propose and conduct feasibility studies and computational modeling.
- Drive the definition of test criteria and build test plans for functional prototypes.
- Guide material and component selection for optical and opto-mechanical systems, precision drives and actuators.
- Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers worldwide to develop subsystems and components for next generation tools.
- Support teams across product divisions within KLA.
Qualifications/Education Desired
- Strong understanding of optical and mechanical engineering principles and fundamentals.
- Experience with FEA simulations for structural and thermal analysis.
- Proficient in 3D solid modeling using CAD, preferably ProE/Creo.
- Analytical problem-solving skills in the structural, optical and thermal domains.
- Proficient in engineering tolerance and error budgets
- Ability to work in a multi-discipline and multi-culture global organization
- Excellent writing skills and verbal communication
Up to 10% travel for training and project support within the US and internationally is required.
