Latitude AI (lat.ai) is an automated driving technology company developing a hands-free, eyes-off driver assist system for next-generation Ford vehicles at scale. We’re driven by the opportunity to reimagine what it’s like to drive and make travel safer, less stressful, and more enjoyable for everyone.

When you join the Latitude team, you’ll work alongside leading experts across machine learning and robotics, cloud platforms, mapping, sensors and compute systems, test operations, systems and safety engineering – all dedicated to making a real, positive impact on the driving experience for millions of people.

As a Ford Motor Company subsidiary, we operate independently to develop automated driving technology at the speed of a technology startup. Latitude is headquartered in Pittsburgh with engineering centers in Dearborn, Mich., and Palo Alto, Calif.

Meet the team:

The Bench Tech Lead Manager (TLM) role is responsible for both the strategy and execution of “hardware in the loop” testing, which is critical for both product development, but also product verification. This position directly oversees a team of engineers focused on both the underlying tools to make benches an effective and efficient test modality, and indirect (dotted line) reporting from the systems and test teams in terms of understanding what system requirements require hardware-in-the-loop testing and how that can be accomplished.

What you’ll do:

  • Coordinate with systems and test engineers to ensure there is a clear set of tests that must be implemented within a hardware-in-the-loop framework
  • Development of tests for DVP as well as overall system reliability
  • Coordinate with product development engineers to understand hardware-in-the-loop testing capabilities that will be needed for new feature development
  • Develop frameworks for efficiently crafting hardware-in-the-loop tests. Understand what makes bench tests cumbersome to write and focus API developments on making the development cadence faster and reducing boilerplate code
  • Review of hardware designs
  • Develop frameworks to measure runtime complexity of a test when running with hardware-in-the-loop

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or a related field and 10+ years of relevant experience, Master's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience, or PhD and 5+ years of relevant experience
  • 10+ years commercial product delivery experience
  • Worked full product cycle including concept to delivery
  • Worked on products involving large hardware and software components
  • Broad experience in robotics – familiar with HW/SW interfaces, operating systems, time synchronization, sensors, logging, perception and planning algorithms, motion controllers, compute introspection tools
  • Experience leading teams of medium size (10-20) of varying skills, managing performance and expectations internally and externally
  • BS in CS, EE, or related engineering discipline

Nice to have:

  • Understanding of quality processes such as ASPICE, CMMI
  • Understanding of safety process such as ISO26262
  • Experience installing processes into new technology areas yet to be productized

What we offer you:

  • Competitive compensation packages
  • High-quality individual and family medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Health savings account with available employer match
  • Employer-matched 401(k) retirement plan with immediate vesting
  • Employer-paid group term life insurance and the option to elect voluntary life insurance
  • Paid parental leave
  • Paid medical leave
  • Unlimited vacation
  • 15 paid holidays
  • Complimentary daily lunches, beverages, and snacks for onsite employees
  • Pre-tax spending accounts for healthcare and dependent care expenses
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Monthly wellness stipend
  • Adoption/Surrogacy support program
  • Backup child and elder care program
  • Professional development reimbursement
  • Employee assistance program
  • Discounted programs that include legal services, identity theft protection, pet insurance, and more
  • Company and team bonding outlets: employee resource groups, quarterly team activity stipend, and wellness initiatives
