As a Senior FinOps Engineer at Mimecast, you will play a pivotal role in optimizing our cloud spend, driving financial accountability, and enabling data-driven decision-making across our SaaS product portfolios. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cost-effective cloud usage, implement best-in-class FinOps practices, and support our rapid growth and innovation.

What You’ll Do

  • Optimize Cloud Spend: Lead AWS rate and usage optimization initiatives and extend best practices to other cloud providers as needed.
  • Cost Allocation: Develop frameworks for effective cost allocation, enabling accurate chargeback and showback models.
  • Unit Economics & COGS: Integrate business and technical metadata to calculate and report on unit economics and COGS for our SaaS product portfolios.
  • Collaborate & Influence: Partner with engineering, finance, and product teams to communicate cost and usage metrics, and drive accountability.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Build and maintain robust reporting frameworks for cloud cost and usage, supporting monthly reviews, anomaly detection, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Leadership Engagement: Prepare and present monthly cost and COGS reviews to leadership and product heads, providing actionable insights.
  • Tooling & Automation: Lead the onboarding and integration of FinOps tools to automate and enhance cloud financial management.
  • Negotiate & Analyze: Drive private rate card negotiations with cloud vendors and analyze cost-saving opportunities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry trends and best practices in cloud financial management and FinOps.

What You’ll Bring

  • FinOps Certified Practitioner (must-have).
  • Must have technical expertise on cloud concepts.
  • Proven expertise in AWS cost and usage optimization; experience with Azure or GCP is a plus.
  • Strong background in cloud financial management, including private pricing negotiations.
  • Experience building cost allocation models and frameworks.
  • Advanced skills in cloud cost reporting, analytics, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Experience with SaaS product cost modeling, unit economics, and COGS analysis.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for engaging technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience onboarding and managing FinOps tools.
  • AWS Certification (e.g., Solutions Architect, SysOps) is an advantage.
