Role Overview:
As an Analytics Engineer II, you will design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and analytics infrastructure that powers Mimecast's product analytics capabilities. You will work closely with the Director of Product Analytics and cross-functional teams to transform raw data into reliable, well-documented datasets that enable data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role requires strong technical expertise in SQL, data modelling, and modern data stack tools.

Key Responsibilities:

• Data Pipeline Development: Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines using modern ETL/ELT practices to support product analytics and business intelligence needs.
• Data Modelling: Develop and maintain dimensional data models and semantic layers in Snowflake that enable self-service analytics and ensure data consistency across the organization.
• Dashboard & Reporting: Build and maintain Tableau dashboards and reports that deliver actionable insights to stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Success teams.
• Data Quality & Documentation: Implement data quality checks, testing frameworks, and comprehensive documentation to ensure reliable and trustworthy data assets.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Engineering, and Analytics teams to understand data requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to optimize existing data infrastructure, improve query performance, and implement best practices for analytics engineering.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or a similar role in a SaaS or technology environment.
• Advanced SQL proficiency with extensive experience writing complex queries, optimizing performance, and working with large datasets in Amazon Athena and Snowflake.
• Strong Snowflake and Amazon Athena experience including data warehousing concepts, performance tuning, and best practices for cloud data platforms.
• Data pipeline expertise with hands-on experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT workflows using tools such as dbt, Airflow, Fivetran, Snowpipe or similar.
• Tableau proficiency with experience building interactive dashboards, data visualizations, and self-service analytics solutions.
• Familiarity with version control (Git), data testing frameworks, and documentation best practices.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
• Passion for data quality, automation, and continuous improvement.
