Mimecast is an AI-First engineering organization. Our teams actively leverage AI-powered development tools across all facets of engineering, from code development to testing, documentation, and operations.
What You’ll Do
- You will be a Full Stack SE-I with backend specialization working as an integral part of the End User Apps team.
- You will:
- Develop and maintain robust, high-performance Java-based microservices and APIs, with occasional frontend work in Angular applications/components that power our enterprise solutions.
- Work within Apigee to design, secure, and manage API proxies, ensuring seamless communication between services.
- Build and deploy services onto AWS infrastructure, leveraging cloud-native tools to ensure high availability and scalability.
- Help migrate and refactor legacy backend logic into modern, service-oriented architectures.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle – from refining user stories with product and UX to shipping code in agile sprints.
- Write comprehensive unit and integration tests.
- Contribute to a clean codebase by participating in peer code reviews and documenting technical workflows and API specifications.
What You’ll Bring
- Have 2+ years’ experience in full-stack development.
- Strong experience with Java(17+) and deep understanding of Object-oriented programming and backend design patterns.
- Familiarity with RESTful API principles; experience with (or a strong desire to learn) Apigee for API gateway management.
- Basic experience with AWS services such as Lambda, EC2, S3, or DynamoDB.
- Competency in Typescript and at least one modern framework (Angular or React) for building functional web interfaces.
- Experience working with relational databases (SQL) and understanding how to optimise queries for performance.
- Working experience with Git and familiarity with Jenkins pipelines.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and a drive to understand the “under the hood” mechanics of complex backend systems.
