Vice President of Human Resources

North - Remote (SE Michigan Preferred)

We are seeking a highly strategic, people-centric, and industry-savvy Vice President of Human Resources (VP of HR) to lead our HRBP function within our People Operations (PO) team during an exciting period of rapid growth and transformation. Reporting directly to the Chief People Operations Officer, the VP of HR will be a key member of the leadership team, responsible for developing a high performance/high engagement HRBP team that is focused on building a world-class team member experience at North that aligns with our ambitious business goals. This role requires a team focused, forward-thinking leader who can balance strategic vision with hands-on execution, thrives in a fast-paced remote environment, and is passionate about leveraging people to drive organizational success.

What you'll do:

  • Leadership and Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing/high engagement HRBP team. Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and excellence within the HR function. Your team is your priority and the key to your success.

  • Employee Experience Expertise: Design, implement, and continuously enhance a holistic and positive team member experience across the entire employment lifecycle – from partnering with Talent Acquisition team to drive innovative recruitment and seamless onboarding to collaborating with the L&D team for impactful development, to partnering with Total Rewards to drive rewarding recognition and thoughtful offboarding. Your team will be the “boots on the ground” for delivering on a strong, positive team member experience at North.

  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI): Collaborate on the development and execution of comprehensive DEI strategies and initiatives. Foster an inclusive and equitable workplace culture where all employees feel valued, respected, and empowered to thrive.

  • Emotional Intelligence: Demonstrate high emotional intelligence, particularly in navigating complex interpersonal dynamics, managing change, and fostering trust and strong relationships across the PO team and at all levels of the organization.

  • Communication and Active Listening: Serve as a trusted advisor and effective communicator. Role model exceptional verbal, written, and active listening skills to quickly build strong relationships, facilitate constructive dialogue, resolve conflicts, and foster a transparent and positive work environment.

  • Aligning HR with Business Goals: Partner closely with leadership to deeply understand our business strategy, financial objectives, and market dynamics. Translate business priorities into impactful HR strategies and initiatives that drive growth, profitability, and operational excellence.

  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Champion a data-first approach to HR. Develop and analyze key HR metrics and analytics to identify trends, measure the effectiveness of HR programs, and provide data-backed insights to inform strategic talent decisions.

  • Strategic Workforce Planning: Proactively assess current and future organizational talent needs. Develop and execute comprehensive workforce plans, including talent forecasting, skills gap analysis, and partner with the Talent Management team to develop strategies for attracting, developing, and retaining critical talent for our evolving FinTech landscape.

  • HR Technology Proficiency: Leverage expertise in HR Information Systems (HRIS) - ideally Workday - to optimize HR processes, improve data integrity, and enhance the team member experience.

  • Data Literacy: Demonstrate a strong ability to collect, interpret, and present complex HR data to diverse audiences, transforming raw data into actionable insights that drive strategic decisions.

  • Industry Knowledge: Stay abreast of - and keep your team informed about - emerging FinTech trends, mergers, security updates, etc. including relevant impacts or opportunities for HR.

  • Adaptability: Thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Demonstrate a high degree of adaptability to evolving PO team & business needs, market dynamics, new work models, and shifting team member expectations inherent in a growth-oriented FinTech company.

  • Change Management: Lead and guide your team and the organization through various transitions and transformations, including organizational restructuring, technology implementations, and cultural shifts, ensuring smooth adoption and minimal disruption.

  • Compliance with HR Laws and Regulations: Partner with the VP of Total Rewards & our internal legal team to ensure comprehensive knowledge of all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII). Ensure all HR policies, procedures, and practices are in full compliance, mitigating legal risks.

  • Performance Management: Partner with Talent Management team to design, implement, and oversee effective performance management systems that foster continuous feedback, support employee growth and development, recognize achievements, and drive high performance across the organization.

  • Project Management: Possess strong project management skills, with the ability to lead and successfully execute complex HR initiatives, from planning and resource allocation to implementation and post-launch evaluation.

What we need from you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree (e.g., MBA, MA/MS in HR) preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, with at least 3+ years in a senior HR leadership role (e.g., Director or VP), preferably within a fast-paced, high-growth, privately held technology or similar organization.

  • History of thriving in a fast paced, constantly evolving organization focused on innovation balanced with outcomes, results, growth and a gritty approach to driving business results.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing HR strategies that directly support business objectives.

  • Proven track record and passion for building and leading high-performing HRBP teams.

  • Strong analytical skills and experience leveraging HR data for strategic decision-making.

  • Deep understanding of employment law and HR compliance best practices.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.

  • SHRM-CP/SCP or HRCI (PHR/SPHR) certification preferred.
