On target ranges above include base plus a portion of variable compensation that is earned based on company and individual performance.

Job Summary:

The Assistant Controller will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and ensuring strong compliance with accounting policies and procedures. This individual will have a strong background in systems and process implementation, especially with a scaling organization. Reporting directly to the Controller, the Assistant Controller will manage the Corporate Accounting and Payroll teams while serving as a key partner across Finance and business leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and functions such as general ledger, consolidations, and payroll

  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, including balance sheet reconciliations and income statement analysis

  • Manage the preparation and review of financial statements, including global consolidations and reporting to the parent company

  • Partner with auditors and ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements

  • Design and enhance scalable systems, internal controls, and accounting policies to support growth

  • Drive automation and efficiency in Procure-to-Pay, payroll, and close processes

  • Collaborate closely with FP&A, business operations, and executive leadership to provide insights that drive decision-making

  • Oversee payroll for the global company

  • Lead financial due diligence and integration planning for acquisitions.

  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure seamless post-acquisition integration into financial systems and reporting

Requirements and Preferred Experience:

  • BA in accounting required

  • CPA required

  • 7-10 years of experience

  • Mix of public accounting (Big 4 accounting firm) and industry experience

  • Prior experience managing a team

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization

  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting

  • San Francisco Bay area or Chicagoland area preferred

Compensation:

Chicago, IL : $200,000 - $225,000
