We’re Looking For:

Lanelink is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Director, Business Development to lead our efforts in expanding our client base and driving revenue growth. Reporting directly to the VP, Operations and Development, the Director, Business Development will be responsible for developing and executing strategic sales initiatives, identifying and cultivating new business opportunities, and building strong relationships with key stakeholders. This role requires a deep understanding of the automotive landscape, exceptional sales acumen, and a proven track record of success in achieving ambitious growth targets.

You Will:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive business development strategies aligned with the company's overall growth objectives. Identify key target markets, industries, and potential clients within the automotive ecosystem.

  • Cultivate and grow the digital pipeline for LaneLink consignments sold in the OPENLANE marketplace

  • Proactively identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities through various channels, including direct outreach, networking, industry events, and strategic partnerships.

  • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with decision-makers at prospective and existing client organizations.

  • Lead and manage the entire sales cycle, from initial contact and needs assessment to proposal development, negotiation, and contract closure.

  • Stay informed on industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging opportunities in the automotive remarketing sector. Provide regular market intelligence reports and insights to the leadership team.

  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., operations, marketing, legal) to develop compelling and customized proposals that effectively address client needs and highlight the value proposition of Lanelink's solutions.

  • Deliver persuasive and engaging presentations to prospective clients, showcasing our capabilities and demonstrating our understanding of their business challenges.

  • Accurately forecast sales pipelines, track progress against targets, and provide regular reports on business development activities and outcomes.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless onboarding of new clients and the successful delivery of our services.

  • As the business development function grows, this role may evolve to include the management and mentorship of a sales team.

Must Have’s:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in business development or sales, with a significant focus on the automotive industry (e.g., captive finance, fleet management, dealerships, auctions).

  • Proven track record of successfully identifying, pursuing, and closing significant new business deals, consistently exceeding sales targets.

  • Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to sales and business development.

  • Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce)

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.

  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

  • Strong business acumen and a strategic mindset

  • Willingness to travel as required to meet with clients, attend industry events, and pursue business opportunities.
