The Role and the Team
The Alliances and Business Development team at Proofpoint operates as the “Special Forces” of our organization. Built from the ground up by a seasoned industry leader with 25 years of experience in developing high-performing alliance teams, our team’s mission is to accelerate Proofpoint’s market value by driving revenue growth through strategic partnerships. The Alliances and Business Development team is responsible for technology alliances that that includes all companies who develop technology that interfaces with Proofpoint to add customer value.We develop and “Shepard” alliances by collaborating with all disciplines of the company to accomplish our objectives. We operate with agility and focus, identifying and executing on opportunities that deliver customer value, fuel our growth, and empower our sellers and channel partners—our “Army, Navy, and Marines”—to lead in the cybersecurity market.
As Senior Director of Strategic Alliances, you will report directly to the Group Vice President of Alliances and Business Development and serve as the leader of our critical Microsoft Alliance initiative. Your primary responsibility will be to strengthen and expand strategic relationships across Microsoft’s Product Groups and Field Teams. You will identify and develop joint growth opportunities, foster collaboration across internal and external teams, and deliver measurable outcomes that increase Proofpoint’s market presence and revenue through strategic alignment with Microsoft.
Job Requirements
Proven track record managing and growing strategic alliances with major technology companies, specifically Microsoft, demonstrating measurable impact on revenue and market presence.
Demonstrated experience in identifying, structuring, and negotiating complex partnership agreements aligned with organizational strategy and revenue objectives.
Technical and GTM knowledge of Microsoft Cybersecurity products and how they are integrated into the Cybersecurity ecosystem.
Experience transacting in Azure Marketplace and its GTM routines.
Expertise in collaborating closely with Product teams, enterprise sales teams, marketing, channel partners, and field organizations to drive joint go-to-market execution and pipeline growth.
Ability to successfully influence and engage at executive levels within partner organizations to achieve strategic alignment and mutual success.
Exceptional relationship-building skills with the ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams both internally and externally.
Demonstrated leadership capabilities, capable of motivating and aligning diverse stakeholders around shared strategic objectives.
Strong analytical skills to evaluate market opportunities, partnership value propositions, and business impacts.
Proven experience collaborating effectively with internal marketing, product management, and sales teams to generate significant business results.
Proactive and decisive decision-making abilities, leveraging strategic insights to drive impactful business outcomes.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets as set out below. Pay within these ranges varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate. The range provided may represent a candidate range and may not reflect the full range for an individual tenured employee. This role may be eligible for variable compensation and/or equity. We offer a competitive benefits package, including flexible time off, a comprehensive well-being program with two paid Wellbeing Days and two paid Volunteer Days per year, plus a three-week Work from Anywhere option.
