We are looking for a Manager of IP Product to join our IP Laws team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in our IP Laws team ensuring the highest quality law content is delivered to our customers. Primarily, the work encompasses the following:

About you – experience, skills, and accomplishments

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant work experience
  • 7+ years in the intellectual property industry and with solid experience in Portfolio Management software, docketing practice, and IP Law calculations
  • 3+ years of People Management experience, ability to attract, retain and develop an exceptional team

  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of Intellectual Property rules, procedures, and prosecution workflows of the USPTO, EPO, PCT, WIPO and other national and international governing bodies
  • Experience in Project Management

What will you be doing in this role?

Product & Release Management

  • Management of timely implementation and delivery of IP law updates into one or more of our IP Portfolio Management software systems

  • Oversee that timely & comprehensive testing of the IP law updates in our IP Portfolio Management software systems is being performed

  • Execute and develop strategies to keep the relevant Clarivate software products/services up to date with the jurisdiction law changes/docketing practices.

  • Ensure client delight by timely delivery of critical changes and keeping the client escalations/post-production issues to a minimum

  • Collaborate closely with the Legal Research team within IP Laws to ensure accuracy of IP law updates and requirements

  • Collaborate closely with IP Laws Consultants to help facilitate prompt comprehensive responses to our clients

  • Assist with the production and delivery of release-related educational materials, including bulletins and webinars, ensuring they are free from significant errors.

People Management

  • Manage the team responsible for working on the implementation of the IP law content into Clarivate software and testing of IP law updates

  • Collaborate closely with other Managers and Senior Managers within IP Laws who handle Legal Research, Implementation and Client Management; as well as key stakeholders outside the department such as Product Owners, technology teams, and technology support teams

  • Monitor and analyze resource usage to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to maximize efficiency.

Process Management

  • Evaluate current processes and make recommendations for improvement, standardization, and tools to improve efficiencies and accuracy

  • Maintain and enhance documentation and best practices on implementation, testing and quality assurance processes

  • Assist in the gathering and reporting of post-production issues. Coordinate and participate in Lessons Learned discussions for Portfolio Management systems

Customer Relations

  • Address incoming customer inquiries with clarity and expertise. This may include both software inquiries and intellectual property matters

  • Assist in client meetings which may involve trouble-shooting issues, formulating solutions, and sometimes providing education pertaining to IP laws or rules.

About the Team

Our team is responsible for providing recurring releases of IP law updates to our clients containing configuration to calculate deadlines for new laws or law changes. Primarily, our IP Laws team broadly consists of the following four types of roles:

Legal Research - Team of attorneys and other legal professionals that perform legal research for renewals, formalities, and prosecution laws. In addition, they monitor and track country law changes in 382+ jurisdictions.

Implementation - This team builds, implements, and defines requirements for laws and rules in Clarivate IPMS products. In addition, this team contains QA professionals to test all new implementations.

Renewals - This team is made up of specialists that define, configure, implement, and test IP Laws and formulas to produce accurate annuity and renewal schedules, calculations, and deadlines.

Consulting - Manages customer inquiries, education requests, produces training materials and IP Laws update webinars. This team also assists with troubleshooting, solutioning, implementation consulting, and assists with testing IP Laws.

Hours of Work

  • Full Time, Permanent

  • This position will work in regular business hours in your time zone, preferably EST, with occasional flexibility to accommodate meetings with other time zones (US, Europe, and India)

  • This is a hybrid role working 2-3 days a week in one of our US Clarivate offices
