We are looking for a Lead UX Designer to join our Strategic Innovation team. This is an amazing opportunity to work on a high-impact initiative aimed at reimagining how students engage with our digital solutions. We have a great skill set in design strategy, user research, and cross-functional collaboration, and we would love to speak with you if you have strong user research expertise combined with hands-on product design experience, particularly in complex, data-rich environments.

About You – Experience, Education, Skills, and Accomplishments

  • At least 7 years of experience in UX design, with a strong portfolio showcasing strategic design thinking and hands-on product design.
  • 7 years of experience conducting user research (surveys, interviews, usability testing, etc.) and translating insights into actionable design improvements.
  • 7 years of experience creating core UX artifacts such as wireframes, journey maps, interactive prototypes, and design systems.
  • Proficiency with design and prototyping tools including Figma and Illustrator.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Human-Computer Interaction, Design, Psychology, or equivalent relevant experience.

It would be great if you also had:

  • Experience working on early-stage innovation or product discovery teams.
  • Background working with internal and external users in both B2B and B2C contexts.
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills to engage cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled design or education technology products.
  • Master’s degree in HCI, Design Strategy, or a related discipline.

What Will You Be Doing in This Role?

  • Conduct deep user research, including user interviews, surveys, and usability testing to inform design direction.
  • Design and prototype intuitive and scalable digital experiences, from initial concept through to implementation.
  • Create UX artifacts such as user personas, journey maps, wireframes, and interactive prototypes to communicate design intent.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, AI, etc.) to ensure solutions meet both user needs and business objectives.
  • Influence product strategy by leveraging research insights and aligning UX best practices with business goals.

About the Team

You’ll be part of the Strategic Innovation team within the A&G segment, working on Project Nexus — a critical initiative focused on unifying and elevating the student experience across platforms. The role is highly collaborative, interfacing with internal product teams, technology, and AI teams, as well as conducting external user research. You’ll be expected to engage with users and stakeholders regularly, share insights, and lead the design thinking process.

The team operates in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment with significant opportunities for professional growth and strategic impact. While you won’t have direct reports, you’ll have the opportunity to influence team culture and mentor peers informally. This role blends both hands-on design and strategic research, with a progression toward deeper design work over time.

Hours of Work

  • Full-time permanent position primarily working core business hours in your time zone, with flexibility to adjust to various global time zones as needed.
  • Hybrid position working 2–3 days/week on-site.
  • Must live within a commutable distance to one of our US office locations: Ann Arbor, Alexandria or Philadelphia
