Purple Ink
Are you a proactive HR leader ready to push the needle forward in a fast-paced, people-focused environment?
A well-established, family-owned manufacturing supply chain integrator in northwest Indianapolis is seeking a dynamic Human Resources Manager to lead HR operations and strategy across its growing team. If you're someone who thrives in a plant/warehouse setting, understands the full scope of HR and payroll, and is energized by culture-building and engagement, this could be your next big move.
This full-time, exempt position reports directly to the CEO with close collaboration with the Managing Director and CFO. You’ll oversee the full HR function, including compliance, employee engagement, onboarding, safety, performance management, and payroll. You’ll also lead and mentor an HR Generalist/Payroll professional, helping to elevate the HR function across the organization.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
HR Operations & Compliance
Own and execute all core HR functions with a strong generalist foundation — including onboarding, benefits, policies, investigations, and recordkeeping.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws while acting as the in-house expert on employment-related regulations.
Lead and support employee relations issues, coach managers through conflict resolution, and serve as a key resource on HR best practices.
Payroll & Systems
Manage and oversee bi-weekly payroll processing; experience with Paylocity is a strong plus.
Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and backup readiness for payroll operations.
Serve as a liaison between HR and Finance for audits, reporting, and reconciliation needs.
Employee Engagement & Culture
Drive initiatives that improve engagement and morale across both office and production teams.
Design and execute inclusive company events and team-building activities beyond work-related topics to bridge any “front-of-house” and “back-of-house” silos.
Model and promote a positive, communicative, and collaborative culture at all levels of the organization.
Safety & Workplace Readiness
Champion safety practices in a warehouse environment, including emergency planning, training, and incident follow-up.
Lead efforts such as CPR training for supervisors and routine safety education.
Performance Management & Development
Revamp and implement a performance management system that supports employee development, accountability, and feedback.
Support managers with coaching, development tools, and clear documentation practices.
Strategic Leadership
Contribute to executive-level decision-making and act as a thought partner to the leadership team.
Bring an “owner’s mindset” to HR strategy — balancing tactical execution with big-picture planning.
Collaborate closely with the Managing Director and CFO to identify operational improvements, policy updates, and talent needs.
Recruitment & Onboarding
Lead recruitment efforts for key roles, working in partnership with executive leadership.
Build and launch a scalable onboarding program that reflects the company’s values and sets new hires up for success.
