ZDNET is seeking a full-time Associate Editor who will write, edit, and publish news stories about innovative new products and technologies. The role demands a person with attention to detail, a passion for the written word, and a genuine enthusiasm for technology and innovation.

What You’ll Do

• Write and publish daily stories under deadline
• Develop strong relationships with key technology companies and work effectively to get information ahead of time under embargo
• Do original reporting and land exclusive interviews
• Write great headlines and descriptions, and select compelling images to represent stories
• Write on assignment, including explainers, FAQs, how-to, and other types of stories
• Use analytics and other tools to track and optimize story performance
• Contribute to timely content opportunities, including CES, Apple Events, major technology events and conferences, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and shopping events
• Develop feature stories that provide deeper value to readers, demonstrate the brand's authority and help consumers make decisions about the products they buy and how they use them

What We’re Looking For

• 1+ years of writing or editing experience with consumer-focused content
• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, English, or a related field
• Strong information gathering and investigative skills
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet daily deadlines
• Enthusiasm for delivering high-quality content
• Natural curiosity and the ability to generate new content ideas
• Positive, energetic written voice
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities
• Passionate about team collaboration
• Growth mindset and openness to feedback and coaching
• Must be highly adaptable and flexible; priorities change rapidly and regularly
• Must be trustworthy, committed, considerate, and a good listener

• Experience creating content for social media
• Experience producing video content

Compensation:

• Cash Compensation Range: $42,000-$60,000*
• NYC Compensation Range: $42,000-$70,000*
  *Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
