Mortgage Lending Operations Manager | Bankrate
Red Ventures
This role requires a hybrid schedule and will be based in our South Charlotte, NC Headquarters (Tuesday through Thursday) and work fully remotely on Mondays and Fridays each week.
We are seeking a deadline-focused, inquisitive, and highly accountable Mortgage Lending Operations Manager to serve as our Qualified Individual (QI) and lead the end-to-end oversight of our mortgage brokering operation. This is a high-visibility role within our Commercial division, reporting to the Head of Client Success. You will be the primary architect of our "First Line of Defense" governance model, ensuring that as we move deeper into broker functions, our technology, marketing, and partnerships remain in lock-step with the highest regulatory standards—particularly as we expand our operations in the New York market.
What You’ll Do:
- Regulatory Leadership: Serve as Bankrate’s QI for current and future mortgage and consumer lending licenses and registrations.
- First Line of Defense Governance: Design and launch new operational governance processes from scratch. This includes establishing protocols for collecting consumer PII, managing data consent for third-party integrations (e.g., credit bureaus, Plaid), and auditing pre-approval letter logic.
- Operational Oversight: Provide end-to-end oversight of the mortgage journey. Partner with Marketing to ensure advertisements meet regulatory standards, and work with Product/Tech to refine matching algorithms and lender integrations.
- Commercial Integration: Collaborate with Sales and Account Management to optimize lender performance. Act as a "constructive challenger," ensuring new business cases (e.g., pre-qualification tech) are refined for risk management without sacrificing distribution scale.
- External Representation: Represent Bankrate in conversations with lender partners and regulators.
- AI Productivity: Utilize enterprise licenses for Gemini, Claude, etc. to scale your productivity, automate monitoring, and streamline document management.
What We’re Looking For:
- Underwriting Expertise: A minimum of 2+ years of recent verifiable experience in the credit analysis and/or underwriting of residential mortgage loans. You must be able to demonstrate a technical background in evaluating borrower income, credit risk, and collateral.
- Industry Tenure: 3+ years of general mortgage industry experience gained within the past 5 years.
- Licensing: Must currently hold or be able to expeditiously obtain MLO licenses for AR, CT, FL, IN-SOS, MT, NV, NM, NY, NC, OH, OK, RI, TX-SML, WV, NJ Qualified Individual License, and Washington Designated Broker License.
- Problem Solver: Proven ability to design and implement operational processes from scratch. You are diligent, organized, and comfortable with high-stakes accountability.
Compensation:
This range reflects total cash compensation, which may include base salary only or base salary plus target bonus, depending on the role. Where eligible, equity may also be offered separately and not included below. Actual compensation varies based on location, experience, and qualifications.
- Total Cash Compensation Range: $122,000 - $152,000 per year
Additionally, the following benefits are provided by Red Ventures, subject to eligibility requirements.
- Health Insurance Coverage (medical, dental, and vision)
- Life Insurance
- Short and Long-Term Disability Insurance
- Flexible Spending Accounts
- Holiday Pay
- 401(k) with match
- Employee Assistance Program
- Paid Parental Bonding Benefit Program
- Flexible Paid Time Off (PTO): We believe time to rest and recharge is essential. That’s why we offer a generous and flexible PTO policy. Full-time employees accrue 20 days of PTO for a full calendar year annually, with an increase to 25 days after five years of service.
