POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for all the accounting functions of a portfolio of properties. The accounting functions include but are not limited to daily review/approvals of invoices, financial analysis, budget preparation, month-end close, and reporting. This position will also work closely with the lead staff accountants to ensure all accounts are current and deliverables are met, internal leadership as necessary, and internal/external stakeholders to provide service and alignment with department workflows.
ESSENTIAL FUNTIONS

Directs oversight of all accounting needs for a portfolio of properties, including daily review/approvals of invoices, monthly close, reporting preparation, financial analysis, budget preparation, etc.

Leads Property Accountants, overseeing and ensuring timeliness and accuracy for their deliverables

Cascades communication from senior accounting leadership, including the development and implementation of policies and procedures that ensure the adequacy of internal controls, safekeeping of assets, efficient operations, and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Practices) accounting rules, as appropriate

Performs detailed review of General Ledger accounts, CAM Reconciliations, financials, and supporting documentation on entities to ensure the accuracy of reporting

Sets and updates forecasts and budgets as well as provides detailed explanations of deviations from budget

Evaluates internal controls and business processes to identify process improvements; Recommend technology-focused solutions to enable people and system scalability

Reviews complex reconciliations and complete simplified reconciliations for audits

Ensures transactions are in accordance with applicable authority, policies, and procedures and recorded consistently

Updates and prepares annual depreciation and amortization schedules

Supports the development of long-term strategies for the growth and maintenance of resources

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or equivalent degree or equivalent education, training, and experience (required)

Approximately 5-10 years of accounting-related experience or similar industry (required)
-
Minimum of 5 years of management or leadership experience (required)

Experience in real estate (desired)

Specialized experience or certification, license, or advanced degree in area of expertise (desired)
