As a Procurement Category Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping procurement strategy across Rocket Companies. You'll serve as the subject matter expert for supplier partnerships—driving value, optimizing costs, and ensuring outstanding service delivery in collaboration with cross-functional partners. Your leadership will bring innovation, structure, and efficiency to the procurement process while fueling an agile, collaborative culture.

About the role

  • Serve as the category subject matter expert for procurement, leading prospective supplier research, and strategic sourcing strategies aligned with overall business objectives. These include but are not limited to RFI, RFP, RFQ, and reverse auction.

  • Conduct in-depth market research to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks within the assigned category.

  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend both existing and new vendors to align with evolving needs

  • Offer alternative sourcing approaches or vendor recommendations to business partners, ensuring the selection of best-value partners

  • Work closely with legal and compliance teams to develop, review, and execute contracts, ensuring timely renewals and strict adherence to internal policies as well as Rocket governance and risk management standards

  • Identify and implement cost savings initiatives within assigned category, including negotiating favorable pricing and payment terms

About you

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field

  • 3 or more years of procurement experience

  • Direct experience in sourcing methods including RFI, RFP, RFQ, and reverse auction processes

  • Proven expertise in negotiating and managing contracts and relationships

Preferred qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to optimize category performance and cost, including benchmarking against industry standards

  • Experience identifying and onboarding new suppliers to address evolving business objectives

  • Skilled in cross-functional collaboration and educating business partners about vendor management and supplier accountability

  • Knowledge of procurement policy compliance and risk mitigation specific to sourcing and contracting

  • Prior procurement experience with services directly related to mortgage origination or procurement experience in facilities management/workforce experience a plus
