The Competitive Intelligence (CI) Team at Salesforce is seeking an intern focusing on application development and artificial intelligence. As our organization continues to scale, and our business evolves, this role will help us define, refine, and transform our strategy through research, analysis, and content creation.This specific role involves understanding the primary Analytics competitors and how the market is changing over time to address customers needs. The role will research and understand key competitors in our market segments, stay abreast of new market conditions and shifts in the field, and work to inform and advise on our next steps accordingly.In addition, this role will heavily collaborate with Product, Marketing, Sales, Enablement, and various other teams to deliver written POVs, competitive assets, and programs to drive success.We are seeking an individual who is very strong in understanding Analytics (Tableau or CRMA), and its impact upon business outcomes. They will be required to not just understand a wide array of information but to craft their perspective and communicate it strongly to audiences of varied technical depth.

The position requires strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deliverables for multiple stakeholders at once.Key qualities for success include a strong mind for tying technical and business impacts together, critical consumption of media and information, analytical problem-solving skills, and an almost entrepreneurial drive and work ethic internally. The role is a blend of traditional roles in development, analysis, strategy, business operations, and public speaking.

Responsibilities:

  • Research, monitor, and meaningfully articulate competitors’ business and product strategies to a diverse set of internal and external audiences while ensuring adherence to company standards. This role is part of the NextGen Depth CI team and you are expected to collaborate with your peers across Data, AI, Automation/Integration, Marketing and Commerce.

  • Build networks and cooperation with teams including Product, Marketing, Sales, Enablement, Market Strategy, Customer Success, Strategic Partnerships, and Business Value.

  • Uncover insights and trends that pinpoint areas of strength and weakness across our products, roadmaps, and sales motions.

  • Support sales cycles and account teams where necessary, including customer conversations and public speaking where appropriate. Be able to assist account teams with competitive positioning that leads to winning business.

  • Support others in the daily use of research data and findings - be a strong team-player who thrives in a diverse, fast-moving global team that spans products, competitors, and timezones.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Enrolled and working towards obtaining an undergraduate degree (BA/BS) in a relevant field such as but not limited to Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, etc.

  • Please note that in order to be eligible for an internship, we require that you be returning to school the following quarter/semester to work towards completing your degree

  • Must be attending a College or University in North America

  • Writing and presentation skills, including the ability to create and deliver compelling content to diverse audiences including executive management, product engineering, prospects, customers, salespeople, and partners.

  • Ability to understand, evaluate, and proactively respond to market shifts.

  • Attention to detail, including documenting analyses, results, and processes in an organized, scalable manner.

  • Self-starter, able to work independently on research projects and deliverables, including project triage and discovery.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Hands-on experience in a medium / large-scale development environment with exposure to competitive intelligence, management consulting, sales engineering, product management, or technical marketing.

  • Experience with SaaS, PaaS, or IaaS markets and toolkits.

  • Experience with Salesforce technologies and tools

  • Experience working with Global teams across timezones

For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $50 to $54.

Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
