About the Role:
To ensure that customers receive high quality, safe, and standards-compliant Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR), Seegrid is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to fulfill a critical role. This position is responsible for ensuring our suppliers provide high quality, on-time component assemblies and delivery of parts needed to manufacture Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs). The SQE must be able to assess the impact of various design decisions/changes affecting vehicle performance, safety, and reliability during system design, component selection, and manufacturing process development (control/capability), using mathematical, statistical analysis, and industry standards. Critical field information must be gathered and analyzed for improvement opportunities and avoidance of performance degradation (or product failure) to optimize customer satisfaction and return on investment. We are seeking an ambitious Supplier Quality Engineer to execute and improve upon our Supplier Quality program so we may continue to provide world-class technology to our customers and partners.
This position requires residence in the Pittsburgh, PA area with daily onsite presence at our headquarters facility. Remote work will be made available around planned supplier visits.
Responsibilities Include:
- Serve as primary Supplier Quality contact to support new product introductions, and daily operations by working closely with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Engineering to resolve all supplier quality related issues.
- Audit supplier processes to validate quality systems for internal and external ISO/TQM standards are met relative to the following: process controls with use of SPC, gauge R&R, APQP/PPAP (advanced product quality planning), document controls with customer requirements, approval processes, continuous improvement, FMEA in development of supplier products, information security, and disaster recovery.
- Ensure suppliers understand and conform with all specific Seegrid requirements, change management, training programs, FAI, and customer satisfaction focus are embedded into supplier business processes.
- Maintain and refine supplier evaluation systems and SCAR/NCM feedback systems. Develop new process improvement plans with suppliers to meet or exceed expected metrics. Prepare and participate in supplier quality management reviews.
- Ensure suppliers have adequate resources, procedures, and procedures to manage and maintain acceptable quality standards for Tier 2 sub-suppliers.
- Refine supplier selection with Supply Chain, new supplier qualification, and supplier improvement requirements as needed.
- Initiate and drive problem-solving/8D activities (RED tag) with suppliers regarding non-compliant materials or workmanship defects and ensure that suppliers have sufficient response along with failure analysis resources.
- Closely collaborate with Seegrid Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to develop and maintain supplier specifications, test requirements, traceability, packaging and records.
- Define requirements for Certificate-of-Compliance (C-of-C) and ensure that suppliers have the following: Outgoing sampling plan, ship only spec-compliant parts, notification systems for non-compliant materials and provide C-of-C data in appropriate format
- Provide engineering support for Quality Control (QC) technical staff regarding incoming screening methods, process improvement, and work instructions.
- Provide Supplier Quality metrics reports and related data analysis for continuous improvement to cross-functional teams.
Required Qualifications:
- BS Degree or equivalent in engineering, electronics or a related field and 3 years of relevant experience in Supply Chain and/or Quality
- In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, Associates degree and 10+ years of direct relevant work experience.
- Broad knowledge of electronic components/assembly, cable wire harness manufacturing work standards (IPC) required. Fabricated and machined parts manufacturing experience.
- Extensive Quality Auditor experience in PCBA, Machining, and Fabrication
- Six Sigma & Lean manufacturing practices that include capability analysis, cost assessment, failure analysis techniques for electronic components and assemblies, vendor performance evaluations and packing/transport is highly preferred.
- Extensive experience in: Six Sigma, lean manufacturing principles and practice, Kanban and Kaizen analysis, and TPS principles.
- Proficient with ERP systems, Microsoft Office 365 and Google Suite.
- Must be able to travel domestically and internationally (maintain valid US passport & US drivers license)
- This role occasionally requires properly and safely lifting electronic equipment weighing up to 25 pounds and to a height of 3-5 feet for installation, maintenance, and inspection.
Desired Qualifications:
- Certified Quality Auditor ISO 19011
- Green Belt Six Sigma Certification
- Experience in Quality in automotive or electromechanical technology industries
- Familiarity with ISO9001, APQP, ISO/TX 16949 or equivalent standards
