Title: Senior Staff Software Development Engineer

Location: Remote - India

Role Description:

A Senior Staff Software Development Engineer at ShipBob will be responsible for developing the culture of engineering excellence in all of our applications end-to-end.

What you’ll do:

Steer large technology transformation projects across multiple pods in a vertical.
Create sweeping improvements in stability, performance, and scalability across business-critical systems across multiple pods in a vertical.
Reduce the complexity of projects, services, and processes to improve system and team efficiencies across multiple pods in a vertical.
Shape broad architecture; ship multiple large services, complex reusable components, or major pieces of infrastructure.
Serve as a technical mentor for other engineers in the organization.
Build mechanisms to scale their impact throughout the Single Threaded Organization/ Single Threaded Leadership through other engineers.
Multiply the effectiveness of others by facilitating cross-team work.
Introduce the team to new technology and trains them to proficiency.
Keep the business as the driver when defining and building new services and implementing new technologies.
Other duties/responsibilities as necessary.

What you’ll bring to the table:

Engineering degree in Computer Science with 14+ years of progressive industry experience in a technology / product development organization, with at least 2+ years in a comparable role as a Sr Staff Engineer/ equivalent supporting a mid-sized department (20+ engineers).
4+ years of experience in Public Cloud Infrastructure - Azure, AWS or Google Cloud.
4+ experience in Microsoft (.Net) or Java based platform technologies.
4+ years of experience in architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, performance, security, and scaling) of new and current systems, including owning critical portions of the codebase.
Distributed Systems, Algorithms and Data Structures - designing and developing highly scalable, high throughput, low latency distributed systems.
Demonstrated Prior experiences in decoupling monoliths into scalable service-oriented architectures, fostering greater team autonomy and engineering velocity.
Infrastructure and Platform Automation - Experience with IaaS and PaaS tools and DevOps methodologies.
Experience with diverse database technologies (Relational, NoSQL) in Databases NoSQL data stores like Cassandra, DynamoDB, or MongoDB and MySQL Oracle
Experience with microservices and SOA architectures
Experience with data warehousing, data lake and analytics technologies
Experience in Asynchronous Message and Event based architectures.
A passionate and hands-on approach to mentoring engineers in design, algorithms, coding, security, and other non-functional requirements.
Operational Excellence: guide continuous improvement in your department's operational performance - including bringing a focus on root cause analysis and correction of errors.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work quickly and collaboratively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Experience with managing AI models and AI pipelines is a great plus.
Experience with front technologies such as Vue.js, React etc. a great plus.
Experience in Logistics, Transportation Technology like Middle Mile, Last Mile a great plus.
