The Job at a Glance
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the accuracy, efficiency, and integrity of Soda Health’s financial operations. As the internal lead for the full accounting cycle, the Accounting Manager ensures timely financial reporting, maintains internal controls, and supports strategic decision-making through disciplined financial management. This role is both hands-on and cross-functional—requiring close collaboration with external vendors, department leaders, and the broader finance team to continuously improve processes and uphold compliance across the business. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-driven, and thrives in a fast-paced, scaling environment.
What You Will Do
Working within an organization created at the intersection of health care, retail and financial technology, no two days will look the same. Typical responsibilities of the role include:
- Own and optimize the full accounting cycle — procure-to-pay, record-to-report, billing & collections, and payroll — ensuring each workflow is efficient, timely, and audit-ready.
- Design and implement internal controls and accounting policies to safeguard assets, drive compliance, and enable scalability.
- Lead the monthly and quarterly close process, delivering accurate financials that support business decisions and external reporting.
- Manage accounting schedules and journal entries for ASC 606 revenue recognition, prepaid expenses, accruals, and other key accounts.
- Oversee transition of day-to-day accounting from our external firm to internal operations, while shaping the long-term accounting function.
- Supervise AP and AR processes, ensuring vendors are paid, customers are invoiced and collected on time, and compliance obligations are met.
- Coordinate annual audits and reviews, acting as the primary liaison for external auditors and managing deliverables to closure.
- Contribute to systems and process upgrades, including ERP, card/banking platforms, and automations across the finance stack.
About You
While every candidate brings a unique resume and prospective, an ideal candidate will include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, audit, or financial operations, ideally in a high-growth or regulated industry.
- Mastery of U.S. GAAP and ASC 606, with sharp analytical skills and a passion for precision.
- Fluency with core accounting systems and platforms, including QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, Brex, or similar.
- Ability to communicate clearly with cross-functional teams (including engineering, ops, legal, and external partners).
- Highly organized, detail-obsessed, and comfortable juggling deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- A strong sense of integrity, ownership, and accountability for delivering compliant and reliable financial results.
Other Requirements
- Travel may be required from time to time as part of the role, for company events and business needs.
- Soda Health is a remote-first, distributed workforce. Candidates should be comfortable with, and equipped to work within, a distributed remote team, including having reliable internet access and basic home office equipment.
- Soda Health will provide a work laptop, and some peripherals upon request.
- Current legal authorization to work in the US is required. At this time, Soda Health will not consider candidates who need sponsorship, now or in the future.
- All offers for employment are contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
