Our company is developing products and services for the electric vehicle space. Founded in early 2022, Project Re:Car spent its formative months establishing a leadership team and the product definition.
Who we are looking for:
Re:Car is looking for an energetic, organized, and experienced Exterior Design/Release Engineer to join our growing team. The DRE will be responsible for design and development of the exterior components and related structures across the organization.

- Responsible for the design and development of exterior components and assemblies.
- Develop and implement functional objectives to meet project performance targets.
- Manage all aspects of exterior component development to meet project requirements including performance, cost, mass, timing, manufacturability, etc.
- Lead collaboration between internal/external teams and suppliers to meet all project requirements.
What you bring to the team:
This Engineer will report to the Head of Electrical and will be responsible for driving the development of the electrical switch and actuator requirements for all of the Product. The Engineer will be challenged to develop unique solutions for various switches and actuators for a non-traditional vehicle. Responsibilities will be broad in scope and complex requiring creativity, superior initiative, good judgement, and leadership skills. This is a hands-on position that will also require leadership of Tier 1 suppliers.
- Develop functional requirements for electrical switches and actuators including interfaces, diagnostics, and fault detection protocol.
- Develop and document test plans for the required switches and actuators.
- Release the component(s) Part Numbers in the Product Lifecycle Management system and maintain release levels as the design matures.
- Lead DFMEA reviews to identify technical risks and drive the controls logic to improve detection and reduce potential failures of the design.
- Review hardware design with cross functional teams to ensure the hardware meets requirements.
- Implement and maintain cyber-security best practices to ensure robust customer and corporation protection over the lifecycle.
- Utilize LEAN Engineering methodologies throughout.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical and Electronics Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited or equivalent program is preferred.
- 5 years relevant experience
- Hands on / detail oriented
- Comfortable working with low voltage and high voltage systems
- Excellent communication Team building and relationship building skills.
- Specific experience including
- Low voltage components such as circuit breakers, relays, wiring, etc.
- High voltage components such as DCDC, motor and inverter, battery, and on-board charger, etc.
- Experience with harness development tools such as Capital and Zuken
- Knowledge of CAN, LIN, Ethernet, LVDS, and A2B protocol physical topology requirements
- 8D, five whys, and fishbone process to diagnose complex issues.
- PPAP experience developing and creating Design records, FMEA’s, Control Plans, etc
- Industry standards such as FMVSSS, NHTSA, DOT, USCAR, SAE, NEC, etc.
