We're currently seeking passionate individuals who are excited about the opportunity to contribute to an industry-shaping company while growing their own skills and careers.

The Role

We’re looking for a Developer Evangelist to drive our developer community growth and event strategy. In this role, you will blend event marketing expertise with developer advocacy to amplify Telnyx’s momentum in AI and engage developers worldwide. You’ll work cross-functionally with Product Marketing and Solutions Engineering to showcase our voice AI technology, nurture our developer ecosystem, and ensure Telnyx is the go-to platform for building AI-powered communications. This is a remote role based in the San Francisco Bay Area, with regular travel for industry events and occasional in-person team meetings.

It’s an exciting opportunity to build programs that inspire developers and position Telnyx as a leader in voice and conversational AI.

Key Responsibilities

  • Event Strategy & Execution: Plan and execute Telnyx’s presence at developer conferences, hackathons, meetups, and trade shows focused on AI and voice technology. Develop end-to-end event marketing plans (booths, demos, speaking sessions, sponsorships) that drive brand awareness and developer engagement. Coordinate logistics and represent Telnyx on-site to connect with developers and gather feedback.

  • Developer Engagement Programs: Design and run programs to grow Telnyx’s developer community both online and offline. This includes organizing webinars, workshops, and hackathons, managing our developer Slack community, and creating content (blogs, tutorials, newsletters) that help developers succeed with Telnyx’s APIs. Champion a vibrant, inclusive community where developers share knowledge and excitement about Telnyx’s AI capabilities.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product Marketing to craft technical messaging for events and campaigns, ensuring consistent positioning of Telnyx’s AI products. Partner with Solutions Engineering to develop compelling demos and use-case showcases that highlight our APIs and voice AI platform. Share developer insights and feedback with internal teams to inform product improvements and go-to-market strategies.

  • Influencer & Partnership Initiatives: Identify and collaborate with key influencers in the AI and developer space – from tech YouTubers and podcasters to newsletter publishers. Coordinate joint events or content with these partners to broaden Telnyx’s reach. Leverage relationships with open-source communities and tech user groups to evangelize Telnyx’s offerings.

  • Metrics & Continuous Improvement: Define success metrics for developer marketing (e.g. event leads, community growth, SDK adoption rates) and report on outcomes. Monitor AI industry trends and competitor activities in developer relations, using insights to refine our strategy. Continuously experiment with new event formats and engagement tactics to improve ROI and developer satisfaction.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in AI/High-Growth Tech: 2+ years of experience at an AI company or fast-paced startup, giving you an insider’s understanding of AI trends and the developer mindset. You stay on top of the latest in machine learning, conversational AI, and voice tech news.

  • Technical Background: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a STEM field. You can hold your own in technical conversations with developers. Bonus if you have exposure to telecommunications or CPaaS – knowing SIP, VoIP, or telephony API concepts will help you hit the ground running.

  • Event Marketing & DevRel Chops: 4+ years in event marketing, developer relations, or developer advocacy roles. You’ve organized successful technical events or meetups, and/or built developer community programs. Strong project management skills are a must – you can juggle event calendars, budgets, and cross-team coordination with ease.

  • Communication & Content Skills: Excellent communicator with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences. You can craft an enticing event pitch, write a developer-focused blog post, or converse with engineers about APIs. Public speaking or presentation experience is a plus, as you may moderate panels or present at events.

  • Passion for Developer Communities: A genuine enthusiasm for helping developers succeed. You’re an active participant in developer communities (Stack Overflow, Slack groups, GitHub, etc.), and you enjoy creating content or programs that educate and inspire. Bonus if you’ve worked with tech influencers, podcasters, or newsletter writers to amplify content – creativity in community-building is highly valued.

  • Cross-Team Collaborator: Ability to work across teams and departments. You thrive in a collaborative environment where you can interface with marketing, engineering, and product teams. You’re proactive, resourceful, and comfortable translating between technical jargon and marketing language to ensure everyone is on the same page.

  • Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel periodically for events. You can represent Telnyx with professionalism and energy at in-person functions, and you’re excited to engage with the developer community face-to-face when opportunities arise.
